Oh Satine! I remember almost crying. I don't, however, remember what the hell I found so tasty on my fingers while Justine answered questions. Hopefully chocolate, or booze, or coffee, but probably blood.

On another note. While it was Mandy and I who were left conscious, I was being chased into the woods by two goblins on beetles (beatles?), so I had to cause darkness in order to avoid them and I tried to kill them but kept rolling for crap. Even if I did critically slay them, I wouldn't have been able to see in the darkness that Mandy caused, so I couldn't help Mandy or my friends. I wasn't frolicking in the woods having my own dreams of the unconscious members of my party dying, I was simply helpless. Probably because the unconscious weren't able to focus on my dice rolls because they were tying up cheese, mesmerized by beautiful horses or struggling with their inner self. Wah. :c

This argument, unfortunately, could not be made about one of the other games we've played where I let a vampire eat my friends while I bathed in blood in the name of eternal love. I admit, I totally let that happen.

Anyway, maybe one day I'll get a set of those fancy made out of precious stone dice that are supposed to "absorb" your vibes or whatever. For a perfect roll, every time. Unless my vibes also suck.

xoxo

Frankie, my dice are just made of plastic, yet we have an irrevocable bond. Perhaps their spacey and beautiful clear rainbow shimmer has absorbed miniscule iotas of my essence thusly causing the dice to represent an extension of my being that connects with my psyche as I manipulate them amongst my fingers in preparation for the next all-important roll.

Or something. I love my dice!

On a side note, when did the sad face become a colon and a C instead of a colon and a left bracket? I've noticed that lately...

as someone who is as superstitious about his dice as you are i can only offer the following:

if you are unhappy with your dice, it helps to burn one now and then. show them who's boss! works for me every time.

I loved this episode! See how DM makes it fun for the players even when all characters in mortal peril. And to give each player a dream, even if it's only a short one, while their characters are unconcious: Genius! See how none of the players object to the fairness of DM, even if the situation is so ugly. Zak, I wonder, are all DMs out there are as good?

You have my sympathies, Satine. But on the other hand; adventure with a new character awaits! (Well, in your timeline the adventure is already done awaiting and is now up and running and probably involves slaying goblins by the dozens.)

It sucks not to be able to do anything. Somehow it sucks even more not to be able to help your comrades in arms.

Dice are the best. Enablers of adventures, agents of fate, controlling events by their whim. Even though I have more than 1 set of dice, I still play with my first set. They're 'special'.

On this episode: I can only say the music was very fitting, the atmosphere of the moment of death was almost palpable. Nice one.

Great job guys, I have t be honest I wasnt considering this series my 2 cent worth for the first half a dozen episodes but now I love it as much as unskippable, Doraleous and associates, Shamus plays LOTRO and Stolen Pixels.

I want a RPG group like this with a DM as good or at least almost as good as this. I actualy never did anything like RPG but you are making me so curious to try it.

Side note, Connie, don't you ever die :p.

Longtime watcher, first time poster here. Gotta say I've been enjoying this series since the outset, even though I can count the number of times I've actually played D&D on one hand. Still, it's fun to be a fly on the wall and watch it.

The most interesting thing though is that even if these people weren't porn stars (though that was the initial selling point), I'd still watch. I'd never heard of Zak, Kimberly, Mandy or Justine before this. I did check out Kimberly's site later, but the type of alt-porn she does isn't anything I'm into, really. So as far as I'm concerned, these are just a bunch of cool people playing D&D.

I will say, though that so far my favorite person in this isn't really any of the strippers or the porn stars. It's actually the hairdresser: Frankie. Not only do I think she's cute (and I have a thing for girls with glasses) but I also just like the way she talks. And on a side note, I do like how her hair's been looking lately as well.

Is that Justine's real eye colour or are those contacts? I just noticed how blue they are when she was talking to the camera.
Confirming that I also thought "Jesus christ, those are stunningly BLUE."
Stunning alright! I was watching it on a pissy monitor and almost fell off my chair they popped so much. Doesn't hurt she's an adorable person as well.
She's just as stunning and adorable without the extra blue contacts.
/signed. Twice over. She single? (kidding! sort of. maybe?) :p

Re Frankie's dice. I have a hate/loathing relationship with d20s. I'll unfailing roll 20s when in just messing around, but come game-time and I see more ones than binary code.

Getting my own dice was great only because it allowed me to freely fling them across the room or out of the window whenever they didn't cooperate.

That was a powerful player death, which is good, a PC death should never be a throw away event; if it is then the player and party had no real connection with the character.

As for Frankie's dice philosophy, I imagine there are as many dice rituals as there are gamers. One guy I play with rolls all his dice separating out the high rolls, until they're all high numbers. One friend would set the dice so the number she wanted was facing up to "train" them, she actually believed that the molecules would settle and weight the die. Personally I believe in the Cosmic Dice Pool, which stores a limited number of crits and fumbles and doles them out as it sees fit.

Frankie does need her own dice, at least she could chuck 'em across the room if she wanted.

Great show keep it up!

One of my friends can make combat rolls. All of them. Attacks, saving throws, d20, d%, d6. My dice seem to love me about one time in twenty.

God I'm slow on the uptake. Hence your comment a week or so back about not being able to wait for the next episode! It all makes sense now ;-)

I bet! All we can do is live vicariously through you guys ;-)

Still that's one of my personal attractions to the show; you do feel like you are there amongst it. So kudos to everyone involved.

Oh, wow, powerful character death.

Reminds me a little bit of the death of my first character in the Nephilim RPG. Our game master gave us several VERY clear signs that the scenario was not supposed to be combat-centered, and we totally ignored them.

Our group was guest in the castle of our (supposed) adversaries, and there was a "special" dinner scheduled a few days after our arrival. Of course we used the few days we had to train our combat skills, instead of scouting out the location, or even *gasp* try to find out more about our hosts.
When the evening finally arrived we saw that one of the other guests at the dinner was a guy with a metal claw instead of a left hand... whom we knew to be one of the really, really, really bad guys in the scenario.
Of course we all went on full rage mode and initiated combat on the spot...
Two of us, including me, were killed without much of a chance (metal claw in my face, ouch, other guy got decapitated. ^^) and the other 3 bareley escaped with their lives.

I guess our DM was seriously pissed, he had planned out tons of dialogue and backstory for this evening, and we just ran in like suicidal maniacs. :)

The revenge: Our 2 characters got reincarnated in female bodies, which we had to roleplay accordingly. :)

I was thinking in my strange sense of imagination (that was sparked by someone saying it was a glorious death) that you should look at it from a Klingons point of view. Is there not a more honorable way to die, than in battle?

Perhaps your new rolled up character is related to Mirror and she is on a blood vendetta. She/he can go around saying "I will send them to Stovokor for what they did," "Revenge is a dish best served cold," and "Today is a good day to die!" Just a thought ^^)

p.s. It's always tough to loose a character, and I could feel the sadness. It was tough watching your reaction to what was happening :(
