This is the best picture I can find online of my d20.
Doesn't look that much like it, but damn, would it ever make a great necklace (if it stopped rolling in my favor)

Wait...your die is AFRAID of being turned into your dangly necklace pendant?!?

Remind it this is the reward for service, the final "thank you thou good and faithful servant".

It should be honored and awed to end it's days in such a way, when most are tossed into forgotten dusty corners to be cat toys, vacuumed up or placed in the microwave.

And it reminds the next set of what retirement awaits, should they only roll well.
Wait--microwave? Now I really wanna know what happens to dice when you microwave them.
One note from a troubled young adulthood.. be sure the dice you are microwaveing do NOT have metal sparkles inside them, or metal paint in the number holes, or are not made of metal.

As I can testify these things are not always obvious (well, except for one) and they lead to really bad things for your relationship with your current microwave. It's even possible it may lead to really, really bad things with all your stuff and the place you live.

Particularly if the plastic has melted a bit before the sparks jump and flaming liquid plastic goes everywhere inside your friend (and DM's) microwave. Though that's probaly avoidable if you don't set the timer with the extra '0' to turn one minute into 10.

Anyway since then, it's been only solid plastic for me. :)
And don't try this at home kiddies (Unless your names are Tory, Grant & Kari or Adam and Jamie)

hm... I may be mistaken, but aren't there spellbooks, scrolls, wands, rods and clerics capable of "Animate corpse", "Miracle", "Wish", "Raise dead", "Ressurection" or "True ressurection" for the reward of (spell level * caster level) * const golden pieces?
Not to mention that sometimes a victim of a violent untimely death returns as undead?

EDIT: My bad, if the party just obtained the magic missile, it probably doesn't have resources and levels enough for epic-tier stuff :)

Apparently they grow more sides... that's how the D20 was created in the first place.

Hm, "Kicked in the Dicebags" does not seem to be for me based on episode 63. I enjoyed the very beginning up till about 1:15, though. Then I realized I only listen to podcasts when I'm in the car. Thanks for the mention though.

Satine, sorry for your loss, she will be forever mourned and emblazoned in the memories of those that survive.

Such a well handled death. Truly moving.

This argument, unfortunately, could not be made about one of the other games we've played where I let a vampire eat my friends while I bathed in blood in the name of eternal love. I admit, I totally let that happen.

xoxo

I want to hear this story! Sounds pretty crazy awesome, though sad for your friends.

Wow. Satine's death sequence was beautiful in a storytelling perspective, horrifying from a player's perspective and satisfying from a gamemaster's perspective... job well done, Zak. The music just made the impact hit all the more.

Way to take it like a player, Satine.

I know all the music is by The Sword, but does anyone know the specific track the death scene used?
