I need an RTS or RPG quite badly! I recently had a thread opened for this, except it was FPS instead of RPG. Well, I borrowed FarCry 2 off a friend.. An despised it. I've been trying to play FF13, and I'm stuck on Bahamut, who is the hardest fucker ever.

That aside, these games need to be for the PC. And uh.. Don't mention Morrowind or Oblivion, beat 'em both already.

Thanks guys.. ^.^; Cookies for good recommendations!

The Bard's Tale, god I love pimping that game like a cheap whore. But a cheap whore with class, and humour, and dungeon crawling.

Final Fantasy V or VI GBA versions or Dragon Quest VIII if you're looking for the best.

Or at least the best that won't inevitably be mentioned in the first three posts.

I was debating getting a ROM for Chrono Trigger, can anyone explain to me the basic premise? All I've heard is that it's 'good'. It's not like 'Sword of Mana' with hella cheesy dialogue, but good gameplay, is it?

.. Honestly, the dialogue in that game made me head-desk several times.

Time travelling RPG with transitionless battle sequences and great music. Basically Final Fantasy jacked up on Dragon Quest with a bit of Back to the Future.

RTS: Lord of the Rings Battle for Middle Earth 2
RPG: Dragon Age: Origins (<-- might sort of in a way be a mix of the two if you like to play top-down games)

Just go buy Blizzards entire game catalogue. Should keep you entertained for quite some time!

Maybe try a somewhat of a mix and get Blood Bowl for the PC?

It's basically Warhammer meets American Football. Only with Orcs, Dwarves, magical spells that can hit the other team, steam rollers, and the ability to literally beat the opposing teams players to death.

It's heavily customizable in the campaign mode(can purchase different players, upgrade them give them stats, skins and names). Has online play, lan play(i think), or 2 person hotseat. Also there are 2 styles of play, Classic, which is more turnbased akin to the original game, or Blitz which is real time strategy football.

I mean, I don't even like football or football video games, and I had a blast with this because it is just so crazy

Not at all. Incredible story, excellent gameplay, and almost-as-good graphics. Did I mention that the sequel, Chrono Cross is even better, IMHO?

RTS: Age of Empires II is pretty good. I've been playing it recently.
I'm still terrible at it, but I'm improving!
Also: Get the Conquerors Expansion too. It adds more civilizations and campaigns.

RPG: KOTOR 1 and 2 are really good. I liked the first one more, but that's just me. I still enjoyed both of them.

Neverwinter Nights. I didn't play that much of it, but I still enjoyed the little that I did play. I'm probably going to play it again soon.

RTS: Sins of a Solar Empire (and I would recommend the full set of expansions) or Dawn of War II
RPG: Anything BioWare has made (KOTOR 1, Jade Empire, Mass Effect series, Dragon Age, etc.)

You sir are the winner! All of those that I've played while I've had minor peeves with them have been well worth the hours I put in

RPG: Baldur's Gate 2: Game of the Year edition. Comes with the expansion. Should keep you occupied for a while.

RTS: I would recommend Age of Mythology, or the Warcraft 3 Battle Chest. Both are amazing games.

Mostly anything by Relic for RTS. Which is Dawn of war series (Both Dawn of war 1 and Dawn of war 2) Company of Heroes and the expansion packs, but not sure if you would like Tales of Valor (It was alright, but I don't think the price was right but not for me to judge.) I would also say Homeworld series, but I haven't got the chance to buy them.
