Heyo~ and top of the morning/noon/evening/witching hour/equinox or what have you. I'll get straight to the point, I enjoy listening to people talk for extended periods of time while I'm drawing, helps me get into the groove, sometimes I listen to music but that's besides the point. Anywho, for the most part I only listen to one podcast (which is weekly) and I've kinda been replaying a few of them and its kinda awkward cause its a gaming news cast (sorta) and hearing news from yesteryear sounds strange in the present. So, Escapists, recommend me some podcasts would you kindly? Anything that's gaming related and humorous, not restricted to just those though, I'll take anything that's just nice to listen to, bonus points if its funny and informative/news like.

Heck I'll throw a recommendation your way as well 'cause why not. I primarily listen to the Super Best Friendcast, hosted by the four "best friends" (as they want you to believe): Matt 'The most 'murican' McMuscles (even though their all Canadian), Pat the short angry man ginger child, Liam-sempai who holds knowledge of all the desus, and Woolie the liar the pie stealer. They discuss most things nerdy in nature primarily video games, but go as far as movies, tv shows, anime/manga, comics and much more. They also have a website you can check out being www.superbestfriendsplay.com and have a youtube channel: the Sw1tcher (though they cross post vids on their site too, which are mostly playthroughs)

Well, you took my podcast recommendation. Super Best Friends Cast is really the only podcast I listen too.

There's also the Weekly Planet podcast, which I never really listen to myself, but it's two very funny dudes talking about movies and comics. It has snippets of gold like this one...

I got two for you.

Cox n Crendor. Jesse Cox and Wow Crendor make up a news show that is 25 to 40 minutes each. Hilarity ensues every episode, with Florida coming up frequently. The two of them make a good pair for a comedy podcast, and the stuff that comes up ranges from strange to wtf.

Co-optional podcast (before it became that, it was the TGS podcast. Hosted by Total Biscuit, usually with Dodger, Jesse, and a random guest. There is many good instances of good discussions on video game topics, but also lots of humor. Anything Jesse is in usually has a number of laugh out loud moment. Podcasts are usually between 2-3 hours.

Both podcasts mentioned have their own animated shorts of certain situations. Just type in the podcast name with animated at the end in the youtube search, and it will come up. Love both of them

I'd suggest old Podtoids with the Sterling-Holmes-Zimmerman triumvirate. Don't worry, there's very little relating to gaming news or to be entirely honest video games in general.

Dismal Jesters was their follow up that ran for a few after Jim left Destructoid.

Podquisition is the new one with Jim, Miracle of Sound and a woman I've never heard of before, but she seems quite entertaining. It's not quite as deranged as the previous ones and it is mostly videogame focussed.

Not gaming related but The Bugle podcast is one I listen to a lot.

I'll give you a few.

Three Moves Ahead is very good, focusing on strategy games and generally using guests who are extremely knowledgeable in both history, strategy and anything else relevant.

FistShark Marketing is the spiritual successor to Podtoid, whereas the Podquisition is more video game based. It includes Gav from Miracle of Sound and some grouchy lass.

Roosterteeth? If you can get over how much they love themselves and the little fan echochamber, it's actually quite good.

Sleepy Cabin? It has Psychicpebbles, OneyNG, Stamper and some other guy who do animations and are "internet famous", but they are also extremely talented and knowledgeable while being hilarious and not giving a fuck. Highly recommend this.

My favorite would be GT Time on Gametrailers. They go over the gaming news each week with good discussion and lots of laughs. Kyle Bosman being the moderator was the best choice they could have made.

If you happen to like Pokemon, I highly recommend The Dex! Podcast. They already have a good Pokemon trivia and battle strategies channel on Youtube, and their weekly podcast is a lot of fun.

You just need two: Laser Time, and Vidjagame Apocalypse, both of which can be found here [http://www.lasertimepodcast.com/], along with oodles of other fun content (including more podcasts).

Laser Time is typically a general nostalgia show, typically about things from the 80s to now, the Simpsons, the Muppets, Japan, and older Disney stuff.

VGA is a video game podcasts that has a weekly top five (usually about odd things such as Top 5 Movie Games According to the 1994 Box Office, or Top 5 Games with Child Endangerment), talk about the newest games, gaming news, and a community segment where they read listener's answers to their question of the week.

Both shows are usually done by a group of people that have both worked as gaming journalists and worked in the gaming industry, and have done podcast work before (Most of them worked at GamesRadar at some point).

To show off some Laser Time, I want to share their Erotic Fanfiction Theater (since it's one of their funniest bits, and one of the few segments I can find on YouTube), but since it's technically pornography, I don't think I can (you can probably guess how something titled 'Integrating with Shepard-Commander' would go though). But here's some VGA!:

I'd say Comedy Bang Bang can't be that bad. I've never actually listened to any of their podcasts, but I do quite enjoy the show, so I figure it can't be that bad if they made a decent show out of it.

No question at all: The Flop House Podcast.

I'm not going to try to explain why, because I can't possibly do it justice. But maybe this will convince you:

Ever heard of the The Worst Idea of All Time Podcast?

It's where two friends decide to watch and review Grown Ups 2 together. Every week. For an entire year. The same movie.

YES!!! I love those guys so much! I actually contribute to the site.

I'm also going to raise Cape Crisis as one their casts worth listening to.

Mysterious Universe.

All the supernatural, preternatural and unexplained events of the week, with readings, interviews and tons of extra material, delivered by open-minded Aussies.

I'm going to third Laser Time and all the podcasts hosted from the Laser Time umbrella.
I'm like the same age as the podcasters, so for me, it's like: this is your life so far.
Laser Time, Vidjagame Apocalypse, and Cape Crisis are my favorite but I also like VGMpire if I like the game/series Brett is covering that week.

Besides Laser Time podcasts, I'd say The Indoor Kids is a pretty great podcast. Always fun and once again, I'm about their age so I feel like I can relate to the show a lot.

I think there's something about being the age the Laser Time guys and Indoor Kids and myself are at, it's that as we grew up so did games as a medium. Also, we all went through high school and awkward years before there was a 'geek sheik' and it was ostracizing to be a nerd, therefore there's invisible bonds of solidarity I feel when I listen to The Indoor Kids and the Laser Time crew.

Anyways, between the 4 Laser Time podcasts and the Indoor Kids there's gotta be over 500 episodes of backlog for OP. Even more if you get to the old TDar podcasts which was the inception of Laser Time.

God, I miss T'dar. My favorite one was episode seventy...something; it was the Disney one. They're always better when Chris really, really cares about the topic.

I second Podquisition. I love it, and Laura is hilarious.

That's the only game oriented podcast I listen to at the moment, but if you like fantasy and science fiction books there is Geek's Guide to the Galaxy that has a HUGE backlog of interviews with authors and stuff. It's not humorous per see but it's an interesting listen, and I found several good authors I'd never heard of before because of it =)

(Otherwise I mostly listen to two Doctor Who pods - one which is Moffat-critical and one which is Moffat-positive, which makes for an hilarious roller-coaster of opinions if I listen to them back to back - but I doubt you're interested in that.)

I'll throw Rage Select (http://www.rageselect.com/) into the mix. It's a smaller site for gaming podcast and let's plays that has become one of my favorites in recent years.

They have one weekly ~2 hour podcast discussing games and a daily ~30 minute podcast-esque let's play (not so much focused on reacting to whatever game they are playing, more around just talking bullsh*t) They have a nice, laid back style, perfect for listening to when doing something else or just relaxing ^^
