Hi guys I have recently bought dragon age origins for the xbox 360. Now I know it's made for the pc but I just love gamerscore, heh, I also like the xbox remote more than a keyboard.

But the problem is that I have played through two different origins the mage elf and the rouge elf and with both of them the game was very hard I can get out of the origins very easily, then I do all the quests in the first town and then I move to one of the other places on the map like the elf forest place or the large town that needs help.

But for both of them I got owned and I don't know why. For the wolf place I can not handle all the wolfs and tree guys after about 5-10 I get owned and the place that needs help isn't much better I can do the beginning of it but when I get in the castle I get destroyed I can beat the first 4-8 rooms of guys but then there is a room with like 8 dogs and I can't ever beat them and if I try to run through it I make it to the front outside of the castle and I get owned by a boss I think. Any help I really want to get in this game but I can't if I die in every direction I go.

Edit*

Also a lot of people are telling me to turn the difficulty down and I refuse so I have always liked challenges I am just stuck on this one.

This is what I am currently doing if you need to know to tell me what I should do next.

Well I created a new character today and I am in the forest before becoming a Grey warden, so I am interested in what I should do after that plus my character now is a Human warrior with dual wielding.

Put the difficulty down, enjoy the story.

That's all the newcomers to the game can really do, myself included.

Yeah, I would suggest playing around with the difficulty to try and find one that suits you. And don't worry, if the PC achievments are like the 360's, then there is no achievments based on difficulty.

I lowerd the difficulty many times. Nothing to be ashamed of.

I played it on easy and went to Redcliffe(sp, not played in a while). I was playing it on normal with a Mage but I then moved on to other games by then, I find it hard to replay a game.

If you are looking forward, to actual help, rather than (rightfully) being picked on for playing on an X-box, a little more information from your side (what party setup do you use, what did you spec your character in) would be rather helpful.

Than of course you can always lower the dificulty-settings in the Menu (Unless you are already playing on the easiest, in which case either you or the X-box controls are beyond help for that kind of game)

Learn the tactics screen.... it's the key to being successful. Make sure you have a healing mage in your party and set all of your characters to drink a potion if they get below 25% health. You can use the default "Healer" configuration for any mage you have in your party, but you need to give them the healing spells.

Further customization of the tactics screen can let you do things like:

1. Instruct your warrior to attack anyone who attacks your mage.
2. Instruct your warrior to attack anyone who attacks you.
3. Instruct all party members to use multi-hit or area of effect attacks when there are large groups of enemies around.

Trust me, if you can better automate your party members you can concentrate on what your own character is doing and the fight gets much easier at that point. I played through it 4 times and never put it below normal any time.

Stick it down to Easy if you aren't looking for a challenge. Hell, I found Normal hard. But that might just be me.

Dual wielding is a fun character, but it's better with rogue. Make sure you put enough points into dex to be able to afford dual weapon mastery, I think it's about 28 dex? Also, be sure to buy and wear the Dwarven Merchant's Belt for most of the game. The amount of money it'll bring you over the course of the game will let you buy way more stuff, and there are about 5-6 good items available for purchase in stores that you'll definitely want.

As other people have suggested, deal with the Mage tower first because it gives you permanent stat bonuses.

I would try going to a location, pick up the quests, and then move to each area grabbing all the easy quests you get first off. Get some XP together so you can level up and have a go at the harder quests.

I went for dual weapons, and kicked arse! Best choice in my opinion.
I struggled at the start, just kept doing all the small quests and stuff till I was hard enough to tackle the harder challenges. Eventually became hard as fuck!

I personally alsways go for redcliffe fist (Which i know is a stupid decision gameplay-wise, but seems like a "What my character would do" thing roleplaywise, to me anyway). In the end, where you go first shouldn't really matter (though the stuff going on down under the dwarwes kingdom is by far the hardest -Broodmother on Nightmare was quite a pain).

I can't offer much advise on that warrior-business due to never having played one - though all the two-handed fighters you collect throughout the game tend to be useless pricks, which is why I wouldn't go for that.

As for your group- You, Alistair, Dog, Morrigan will probably be the easiest - let morrigan learn heal (and tell her to heal as soon as someone drops below 90% via tactics screen, otherwise heals will occasionally come too late), use her ae-stun-mindblastthingy manually when your getting crowded by enemies, and as soon as the can heal, let her learn the cone of cold-thing, which, well placed, is by far the most effective method to save your party from getting overrun.
At least on easy, this should pretty wuch work out on its own, so you can focus on occasional stunnig, and on dealing damage with your character.

First off, play it on PC. But... since you are on Xbox:

You always need to have 2 mages if you want to keep the difficulty to reasonable. My first playthrough was 1 mage and it was a lot harder. One mage for healing (Wynne) and one for damage (Morrigan... I guess).

If you do not have Wynne, skip all other quests and go to the mage tower first and pick her up.

Get to know the combo-magic abilities like Petrify + Stonefist = Shattered/Dead. These can quickly reduce numbers of lighter enemies and if you have one mage casting one and the other casting the other (I had a tactic for Morrigan where she would cast Stonefist at any paralyzed enemy, which 90% of the time was from petrify, so she did it herself), you can break down numbers quick.

Also, the ability of 2 mages to overlap AE effects is very useful.

You also need a real tank. The humanoid tanks kinda suck. Alastair is ok, but not great. I would recommend Shale from the DLC. If you are a rogue, well, you have that covered.

Now, for the wolf fight in the forest ruins, are you talking about the final fight with the trees/wolves and the elf guy? I ignored the wolves and trees both times through on that fight and focus fired on the elf... and killed him fast both times, once he is down, it's over.

For the Redcliffe fights, you need to set your party members where you want them, with casters back or out of the way and keep them from charging off. That gets them killed. Then just lay AE's down where the skeletons are coming from and use your rogue and tank to tie up any that get through. I've only lost the barkeep scumbag Lloyd or whatever on that fight.

I am now making a new new character are archers any good?
I played an Archer and he ended up pretty good. Also it's highly advisable to do the area of your character's expertise ASAP. For example, as an Archer you would want to do the forest story first because they have the best archer stuff. As an archer make sure you have two tanks in your party.

I went with Sten and Shale and it worked well. However, don't expect to be killing much on your own until you get Scattershot and Arrow of Slaying which are top tier abilities.

Having played through on the 360 as both a sword and board warrior as well as a melee oriented rogue, I have to say that, in general, the beginning of the game is overall the hardest (especially the first time).

I would personally say that a rogue is a good starting class for 2 reasons, first rogues are best played by the actual player because they require more actual constant interaction and second because you always want a lock picker in your party and if that is you, it leaves a lot more room for team customization with your other party members.

Mages can be controlled well enough by smartly chosen tactics and the occasional micro management and tanks are really pretty easily controlled by tactics alone. The only thing you may have to do with them once in a while is face the enemy away from the rest of the party, but in most fights this isn't necessary in the least. Rogues, on the other hand, require you to move around, activate skills based smartly on situation and rely a lot on backstabbing. You can't really on the AI to handle that reliably.

And no, archery isn't very useful. It's not a bad choice for the AI instead of going with a melee oriented rogue but it's not really something you'll want to be doing yourself outside of a couple of fights where getting in melee range with a non heavy plate wearing character is a really bad idea.

Okay, fair warning, I play on PC so some of this may not be applicable to the X-Box version.

A few people have mentioned it before, but tactics is very important in Dragon Age, and if your party members don't have the tactics slots to be operating effectively early enough in the game try some pretty constant pausing to tell them what exactly you want them to do. Learn everyone's spells and talents and how to use them in tandem. Also, a mistake I've heard of is people who don't have it set on auto-level forgetting to level up your characters, which should be done the second you get out of combat.

So, other than that, look up walk-throughs online or go buy the game-guide, both are always quite helpful.

(Going to the Circle of Magi first has been mentioned a lot, and it is the best way to do it really and I think the easiest quest line although the Fade takes forever the first time through)
