Assuming you're referring to the game The Escapists, there are many ways to leave the prison. According to this Steam thread [https://steamcommunity.com/app/298630/discussions/0/35221584528248040/], you can apparently get a gray key by subduing several guards.

Although, just so you know, these are the forums for an online publication called The Escapist Magazine, and we're not related to the game The Escapists.

Keys are not usually kept in Xboxes so you should refrain from damaging your console. If you don't know which key you need, the fence is probably supposed to stay locked so you should just go back to your room or ask a nurse for assistance.

The very first time I saw it on steam I had that reaction too. Even now I have to mentally remind myself they're unconnected. X-D
