I need some new Anime.

Elfen Lied is good, but also incredibly hard to watch, as its both incredibly gruesomely violent and very mature-themed. Watch if you dare, as it is really good, but I cannot give it a universal recommendation.

Orphen is a fantastic fantasy anime. Absolutely incredible, and little-known. Make sure to watch the first season, as the second is less serious and more comedic, and generally not as good.

Also, Clannad. Watch it. I absolutely guarantee it will make you cry. I don't care about your excuses. You will cry. It is absolute, unavoidable truth. Maybe not in the first season, but in the second, After Story, you will cry.

PlanetES and Mushishi are both regarded as some of the best. Also, here is a sample of ones which come recommended. As for fighting and political Fullmetal Panic is good, So is Monster. Blue gender is an interesting one too. Oh, and Big O.

The original Gundam, Zeta Gundam, and Char's Counter Attack are all must sees if you liked Gundam series like Destiny. The 08th M.S. Team is the best, but I don't think you'd find the politics your looking for in that since it's an OVA.
