I'm no stalker or anything, but I noticed that your posting history has you describing yourself living with your best friend (male) and his parents calling you "adopted son"..

Not that I'm making any accusations..Just a bit confused really.

Experiment? Asking for friends/anons? Another room-mate?
I can explain that. I'm both genders.

I'm kidding, no no no! Lol well I am a girl and she was also a girl(different roommate still) but that other friend knew I liked this site. I was afraid she might notice someone posting a very specific situation like the one I described and find out it was me. It sounds silly but at the time is was kind of a big deal for me. She did mention she tried googling how to stop that awkward situation she had created and reading a few topics about it; I don't know if she incidentally read mine or something.

So for future reference, yeah that might happen. I've actually lived with 7 different people in over two years.
Now things start making more sense. Because the old thread made a little less sense as two males. And this one made even less sense as two males.
As for your original post. I dunno, try filling up that image in your head with something else? Or just don't give a fuck about it. I dunno, whenever I happen to see any of my bros, I just (internally) shrug and move on.

I've sort of gathered enough visual information over time to be able to imagine several of my friends without any clothing using real life sightings off them, but it doesn't really bother me that much. It's not like I feel weird about seeing one naked. Even admitted to one, and he admitted back, about some past same-gender experiences. Even if it's kind of weird, as long as none of is has felt any attraction to one another, I don't feel anything about it.

Or as I like to say: It could have been worse. It could have been a male friend of yours that you've felt some sort of attraction to or had a relationship with before, or female for that matter. Or this person could have been doing stuff to themselves. But as long as it's just at-home-nudity, I don't find it that bad.

I'm curious, how do Americans get on watching Game of Thrones? Quite a lot of female nudity in that.
I dunno, maybe I'm the exception but most people I know don't have issues with nudity. I've seen, and have been seen by, a majority of my friends (especially that one halloween where I went dressed as a gimp in one of those spandex onesies... good times). Hell, my mom even talks to me about GoT. Not specifically about the nudity parts, just like, normal convo about plot lines and speculation about what'll happen next.

America invented the internet, saying America has an issue with nudity is like saying Hugh Hefner has an issue with sex.
Think of it like a special gift during the holidays, if you got it every day then it wouldn't be special, porn in America isn't as rampant as say in Europe where it airs on the kids channel after 7pm, so we treasure it.

Eh, being seen naked or seeing someone naked is no big deal.

Between growing up in the country and skinny-dipping with my friends to years of theatre and being a gym rat, I've seen more naked bodies than I can count. And dozens have seen me naked. It's only a big deal if it's made to be one.

I've seen my friends naked, being naked is natural, fun, and what all the kids are doing these days. Get that conservative idea that nudity means anything out of your head, and you'll be happier.

I might be a casual nudist.

7 PM? That seems far too early. I wouldn't want to be channel flipping with my family and accidentally land on that. At least it would give me a reason to remember to switch my clocks during daylight savings time.
"Hey kids, let's watch the six o'clock shows"
"HARDER! SHOVE IT IN MY--"
"OK, daddy forgot that farmers rule our time zones. For the fifth year in a row."

The only way to get over seeing your friend naked is to get over seeing your friend naked. I know that sounds simplistic, but once as you stop thinking about it, it'll be forgotten quickly. But if you keep thinking about it, you'll keep thinking about it, because you keep thinking about it. It's impossible to forget something you are intentionally remembering.

I would say just continue your day to day routine as normal. Eventually your distracting memories of the event will fade or bug you enough to talk to your friend about it. I don't think anything needs to be said between you as it was just an innocent mistake but I can't tell to what degree this experience has affected you.

Chances are everything will be back to normal soon without any action needed.

Seeing your roommate nude is like taking a sip of sour milk: its going to happen...just not often. I wouldn't bring it up until you can laugh at it.

It was when I was visiting Germany as a kid that I remember that happening, to be honest it was around 10 iirc.
One moment they were playing Sailor Moon, next some weird horror nude flick, honestly I wasn't complaining.

You have every right to feel awkward, but in the end, is there really anything to feel awkward about? "Oh no, ah, saw your boob. This changes everything." It was also inevitable, as situations like these aren't uncommon.

I've walked in on friends and family members so often that it's unfair, but I've never cared. It should just blow over, and it'll never be brought up in sane conversation ever again.

No one has mentioned this yet. I'll try to be delicate.
Is she attractive? Are you?
It's our insecurities that make us bothered by seeing each others' bodies, or letting them be seen. That's why some people are so comfortable in gym locker rooms. This varies by person, of course, but clearly, some people in this thread are having a harder time thinking this is an issue than others.
This sounds more like an insecurity issue than a nudity issue.
There are people who catch their roommates doing worse and get over it instantly.

Why's everyone trying to sexualize it? This kind of thing happens when you live in close quarters with people, nothing abnormal about it. Two people can see one another naked without being compelled to have frenzied sex. I've walked in on many a naked roommate, it's never been a big deal.

Just remember, nudity is nothing to be weirded out about, it's completely natural. Try not to agonize over it while the rest of the Escapist takes a cold shower.

At the risk of sounding immature, I couldn't help but snicker at the juxtaposition of the thread title and the OP's username.

Anyways, something like this was bound to happen, particularly given her propensity to be nude in her room. Sounds like it was an honest mistake borne from miscommunication. Nothing to get worked up over. What's done is done.

If it's still bothering you, perhaps it would be good to let your friend know about it if you haven't already. Come up with some sort of system to minimize it happening again, such as knocking before entering.

Again though, I'd say this was a minor incident. Hell, I would have LOVED to have something so innocuous over the shit my old roommate put me through.

One, Lawd forbid anyone try to have a joke about something. Two, you cut my next sentence where I said it's only a big deal if you make it such.

The line between comedy and being inappropriate is a tricky thing. It kind of moves into weird territory when she clearly said they're platonic and have a sibling like relationship. If you were telling me a story where you walked in on your hypothetical brother, I wouldn't imply the two of you should've banged.

And she's clearly a little uncomfortable about the incident, even though we may not understand it. The crude sexual innuendos probably aren't helping.

Not "everyone" made it into something sexual, thank you very much. You quoted 4 people, and several of us didn't sexualize our comments at all. So please get off your indignant high horse, and stop making broad generalizations and imply that all of us need to take cold showers like we're sex crazed lunatics or something. Keep your comments directed at those who actually made them, thank you.

I realize that not everyone did, if you've ever had a conversation you would probably realize that 'everyone' is usually shorthand for 'quite a few'. Yes I did, I quoted four people, and you weren't one of them, so where exactly is this coming from? I'm guessing when I said "the rest of the Escapist"? That statement should be taken with a huge grain of salt, that was my attempt at lightening the mood, a jest, you might say. Obviously not everyone was making lewd comments, but I'm not going to adjust my speech to accommodate the hyper-literal.

But I did find it in poor taste that so many people were making sex jokes about a situation that the OP was obviously uncomfortable with. Especially since she clearly said that they were completely platonic, and have a sibling-like relationship.

That doesn't make me indignant, thank you.

*cough* *cough* *COUGH* I'm sorry, I think you gave me a bad case of irony.

I can't speak for the other people you quoted, but I thought it was pretty obvious I was joking. I was betting on the OP being able to spot a joke and maybe not make such a big deal out of a pretty common occurrence.

That doesn't make me sex-crazed, thank you.
