But am determined to not sound like a Nintendo worshipper. Anybody have some advice on how to approach the tricky subject?

Either way people are going to disagree with you. Write the article you want to write and don't worry about anyone else.

Step 1) Start it with: "I'm going to write an article in the same fashion Nintendo makes games"

Step 2) Then write one or two good sentences.

Step 3) Copy + Paste them hundreds of times, making them a little worse each time.

Step 4) ???????

Step 5) Profit!!!!!

As you can see, I'm not an avid Nintendo fan, however, I feel any article about them that doesn't at least try to address this very legitimate criticism of them as a company just isn't worth reading.

I will definitely address that issue. My goal is to say that yeah, Nintendo is whoring its own material and has ditched the fans it had in the early years but for a good reason besides profit.

The fact of the matter is, if you don't outright condemn Nintendo as abandoning the "hardcore" gaming crowd, you're probably going to be perceived as a Nintendo worshiper no matter what your article actually says. On the other hand, if you do call Nintendo on some of their less desirable business practices, you'll likely be labeled as a hater, and a 360/PS3 fanboy. There's no middle ground. That's just how the mind of the average gamer seems to work these days.

Just write what you want and to hell with the consequences, I say.

If you don't want to be a Nintendo worshipper, play some of their games. Then devote a paragraph of the article to how much you disliked the games. Quote Yahtzee.

You can write whatever the hell you want but trust me, actually wiriting (but firstly, understanding) about Nintendo, or the actual workings of any corporation, is a feat itself.
