He said "everyone should admit they're bisexual", which in abstract terms is essentially "everyone should admit they are grey". I don't see anything particularly ignorant or insulting about that sentiment. Even if he expressed it a bit hyperbolically (can't believe that's actually in the dictionary).
It's ignorant because we're not all grey. We say we aren't, his word against ours, it's utterly arrogant to say he knows better than we do about ourselves when he has jack shit to back him.

And it's insulting as I explained at the bottom of page 1.

And lastly, there is a difference between saying that it is not ALL black and white and saying that it is all grey.
I don't think anyone can really call themselves super 100% straight or gay, especially without doing the necessary scientific legwork. Even if you're 99.99999% gay, you're still a shade of grey. And again, I don't think sexuality is a static unchanging value either, I think there's various circumstances that cause your sexual interests and preferences to fluctuate.

So it comes down to "everyone is a shade of grey" versus "I am 100% black/white all of the time without exception". And I can't help but feel the latter concept is just logically flawed, regardless of whether people feel insulted by the idea that they don't understand their own sexuality.

I know that this post won't be read by everyone, but I just want to try to establish a middle ground by asking a counter question. Can't we all just admit that everybody is zoophilic? To put it simply, no matter who you are, ANY kind of sexual activity can and will get you off, even if your too afraid to admit it, which I can understand, but if everybody admits to having zoophilia then nobody would have to hide it.

I mean come on.

Even Jesus was into it.

Actually, speaking as a bisexual, I want to punch you. For insulting every single one of my gay, and strait, friends by indicating that you know better about their sexualities then they do.
I think OP is just talking about the grey area [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinsey_scale] between sexual orientation.
Which I think makes a lot of sense.

I personally have never met a bisexual person who was perfectly in the middle. All of them either admitted or indicated a preference for one particular sex.
And there is a lot of evidence to suggest that sexuality can be temporarily altered by circumstance [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Situational_sexual_behavior].

I don't think you have grounds to punch someone just for suggesting it's not a black-and-white, on-or-off switch. Nothing is that simple.

What is it with women and smutty literature?
I mean seriously, as a writer my chances of being picked up by a publisher increase tenfold if I include a subplot about a smart young girl being fought over by a dreamy, adventurous hero and a roguishly charming rake.
It's like, the polar opposite of the gaming industry in terms of sexual pandering.
If there isn't a highly explicit threesome, I won't buy it.
[sub]That's a lie.[/sub]

As for "what's with women and smutty literature", well... generally, porn is geared towards men, not women (even the girl/girl stuff is geared towards men, not lesbians, while guy/guy porn (not yaoi, mind) tends to be geared towards gays). Whereas, there is an entire genre of literature that's geared towards women: romance novels. Seriously romance novels is basically our porn. Romance novels really are terrible, but we like them because it has sex AND love! Yay!
Not all romance novels, though. Some "tease", with sexual tension and whatnot, but either end before any consumation, or the consumation happens "off screen" as it were. Which pisses me off to no end.I WANT MY SMUT CLOSURE DAMMIT.

No thanks.
I think that would be very misleading. I'm afraid I might end up being solicited for sex by men and it would be really awkward when I turned them down.
"But aren't you a bisexual?"
"Well, yeah, but I don't like the cock."
"So you're biromantic, then?"
"No, I like the women."
"...But you're bi..."
"Yeah."
"So you like both?"
"Nope. Not a big fan of cock."
"But you're bi."
"Ayup."
"Surely you must be able to recognize some men as handsome or attractive to call yourself bi?"
"Well, as I'm sure you will agree, considering that you're propositioning me, I am fairly stunning... [http://art.penny-arcade.com/photos/1087535149_PNScU-L.jpg]"
"You're only autosexual...?"
"What? No, I don't fuck cars! How would you even do that? I mean... the tailpipe would scratch everything up and... *shiver*"
"No. 'Autosexual'. Sex with yourself. Having the hots for yourself."
"But I can't stick my dick in myself... Unless... I guess I could try to bend my dick back to my asshole..."
"If you could do that you'd be in pornos."
"Yeah. *zips pants back up* My dick might be impressive, but not that impressive apparently."
"So you're not autosexual?"
"No sir."
"You're bisexual?"
"Yeppers."
"Would you like to come back to my place then?"
"I've already told you: I don't want to touch your dick, damnit."
"You don't have to be the pitcher you know. You don't have to touch any dick at all."
"I'm not interested in having you touch my dick either!"

etc. etc.
Pfffpfffpfpffpppfpffpfpfppfpppffpfpfffppfpffpfpfpfpfffpppffpfppffffff

OT: Why should I have to admit that, agree with it, whatever? Maybe I'm too practical, but if I don't want to have sex with guys, then there's no reason for me to entertain the idea that I'm bisexual. Really, why? I suppose I could also declare that there's a chance that I'm a direct descendant of Siddhartha Gautama, but since I'm not Buddhist and it's likely that it's not even true, why bother bringing it to mind (other than mild amusement)?

why wouldn;t it be for the same reasons? to see two hot people going for it...well thats not hard to understand is it?
1. Mine has low self-esteem. Please don't make fun of it

2. Watching lesbians is fun because it's watching (and hearing, at least for me) a woman get pleasure, but without the very unattractive body of a man in the picture. Most guys' bodies aren't attractive. None are sexually arousing for me.

Conversely, do women like watching sweaty man bodies? Again, I'm confused.
I was under that impression. I mean, if you read a trashy romance novel, an ungodly amount of text is dedicated to the guy's pecs alone.

I think if one thing is clear its that female and male sexual attraction works slightly differently

personally I guess I'd find it better when those involved actually seem like theyre enjoying it

Logically flawed? Based on the scientific legwork you didn't do? What's insulting is coming across bullshit like people saying that I don't understand my own sexuality when they have jack shit to back it up. Like claiming something is logically flawed without doing the fucking obvious step of using logic and show it is.
My point, that people's sexuality can change, is trivially easy to back up. I could bury you in cases and examples of people who began with one sexual orientation, and then shifted or gradually changed to another, if you like. Also, there is bisexuality.
Therefore, a grey area must exist, logically.

Now, it is up to you (or whomever) to prove that there are people who fall outside of this grey area (and will always remain outside of it), if you want to disprove my theory that nobody falls outside the grey area (and thusly nobody is technically purely straight or gay). But I don't think that's technically possible, because how can you even define what being 100% straight is? And even if you could, I doubt anyone could attain (let alone maintain) such perfection (and I'm saying that as a heterosexual mind you).

And, until you can disprove/discredit that theory, you can't call anyone who believes it ignorant without seeming, at the very least, unscientific.

Oh yes some of it is DEFINITELY more smutty. However the more smutty it is the more shit it is (Fifty Shades of Grey anyone?). Actually there's a section that's right next to the romance section in this bookstore I go to that's called "Erotica".

I give you two guesses as to what it's about.

It's kind of a self-insert thing going on there. If there is awoman in there, I can kind of imagine being that woman. Because my own personal issues means I'll probably never have a boyfriend ;w; It's the closest I can get.

Or do you mean about explicit content? I can talk lots and lots about explicit content.

the body is part of it..but not all of it

Yeah, sorry. I find men's bodies kind of gross. Well, most of 'em. Lotsa flab and bone. But I was projecting my view onto everyone else. Sorry again.

Not really. It's a "fantasy" sort of thing. If I ever did get into a relationship, I'd be monogamous. Although if my guy was up to try having a threesome with another guy at least once, I proooobably wouldn't say no. Just to see what it was like. As long as I don't find it gross I'll probably try it at least once. Although because I'm completely unfair I wouldn't say yes to a threesome with another lady. I find the thought of being intimate with another woman incredibly naeuseating. I'm also 90% sure I spelt that word wrong.

Well isnt that a little silly?

Were not all bi. As a species were not even a significant portion as that. Remember, people who identify themselves as Gay in the US for example which IS (despite certain areas) a highly tolerant environment for homosexuality still only accounts for between 2-5% of the population. Even if you account for others who have had homosexual encounters that figure still doesnt even top 10%.

So how can you suggest that based on what is only reflective of a top end of 10%?

Unless of course your refering to those quizzes that determine what percentage of gay you are and assumes that everyone has a certain percentage of gay in them. You do realize those are based off highly offensive stereotypes, right?
