Ideas for Half Life 2: Episode 3

It's been over four years since Valve released Half Life 2: Episode 2 in the Orange Box, and apparently, nobody told the development team that stories need to have an ending!
Maybe all of them were told that The Jedi Returns didn't exist and they were left with a cock-tease ending to The Empire Strikes Back.
But anyway.
As was explained by the late Alyx's Father (I can't remember his name right now) it will have something to do with a large shipping container and Aperture Science Labs (remember them from Portal) in Russia.
So, any possible ideas on how this monumental series will end? Will Alyx die(personally I really hope that she does, because quite frankly I really just wanted her to die as well at the end of Episode 2)?
Will it finally wrap up every loose end?
Will it leave it in some form of 'To-Be-Continued' crap and open it up nicely for Half Life 3 (coming 2020)?
What do you think?

It's been about 2 and a half years since Ep2 came out.. Not 4.

Still, they are slow... too busy making shitty zombie multiplayer games to bother with the Half-Life series right now it seems.

I don't really want Alyx to die because I think shes a great character and I'd like to see her in HL3 if there ever is one. I'm not sure what they'll do in Ep3, I'm still pretty confident we won't be getting to use the Portal gun though as a lot of people have quite perplexingly theorized. I really want to see how Valve make Alyx cope with her loss after the ending of Ep2 and I think that whole thing is going drive her and the player forward in a great way towards a hopefully explosive ending.

That is, when it actually comes out.

My theory-

1. We will see the Borealis, and probably get some portal tech. Maybe not the gun itself, but something. (I also have a wild theory that Chell, since the commentary in Portal/some interview said she will play a large role in the Half Life world, will show up. The rationalization behind it is that she's another person who's had their life messed with by The G-Man, and was placed in Aperture so someone had an understanding of portal tech, as well as being able to survive. After she got out of the Center, she was put in stasis or something and transported to the Borealis, where she will meet with Alyx and Gordon.)

2. You will get to take vengeance on the Advisor who killed Eli, but it might be too late. There's a theory circulating that Advisors drain knowledge, so getting to one of the key Resistance members..

3, and this is the big iffy- It will end on a semi-cliffhanger. You'll save the Earth from the Combine, but the G-Man will have orders to take you (and possibly Alyx/some helper) out of Earth to fight the Combine in their home territory.

4. Barney will come back, and explain about the cat xD

I am also interested in seeing how Valve has Alyx take the aftermath of her father's death, and about the whole sign language thing.

Right, thanks for clarifying that point. I wasn't able to check at the time of posting of this thread. Still, I except the fact that maybe because we are being made to wake for so long for a reason: because the game will actually be worth the wait, but the point of episodic gaming is to release games more often at cheaper prices. Valve need to work on this, but I have a feeling that it will come out in this year at least because they have just released Left 4 Dead 2 and they cannot increase that series without including nukes and since they have finished mucking about with TF2, I have a good feeling that 2010 will be the year of Gordon Freemon.

Honestly, I don't think it'll ever get made.

It's more likely at this point they'll just make HL 3 with an updated engine.

Or not.

I have an idea.

How about Valve actually finishing this game before the next super-nova!

I hope it has an actual inventory system instead of letting you cary everything you want.

Giving the pherapods back would also be nice.

And I ether want to kill an advisor or Dr. Magnason (both if possible).

As long as we learn something about the G-Man, I'll be happy, even if it's just a vague cutscene like in Episode 2.

Does this remind anyone else of Starship Troopers? I mean, sucking the brains out the back of someone's skull? I mean, I don't mind a little sci-fi rip off (facehuggers/headcrabs) but come on... Starship Troopers? Come on.

It seems to be Valve's one case of almost-plagiarism. Take a look at the antlions. Then take a look at the bugs from ST. That's not a coincidence.
