If you had to live in any fictional universe, which?

I think I'll have to throw my lot in with the other people saying 'pokemon', simply because it's pretty equal opportunity lorewise. No special powers? Not a member of the elite? No problem! You don't need to be either. Pretty much everybody in that world interacts with pokemon daily, and it's a comparatively nice world to live in.

Sue me, but I'd pick Equestria from MLP:FiM. Relatively peaceful, no tyranids, no giant monsters, peaceful neighbours that don't want to eat me. Could just do my gardening in peace and isolation. Like living out in the Styx on Earth, but less likely to have a serial killer or thief come knocking.
I'd be a bit more up for that were it not for the fact that the OP specifies that you personally won't change. The MLP universe has a lot going for it in terms of comfort, opportunity, and general livability, but that presumes that you'd be one of the existing races for that world (pony, gryphon, zebra, minotaur, dragon, buffalo...). Given the premise that I'd be reborn as one of those, it'd be a pretty nice deal, but the idea of being human in a world where humans otherwise don't seem to exist...that's significantly more iffy.

I've never played any but how about a dating sim? Seems like a safe bet and getting sex would literally just involve scoring enough points. No need to comprehend social cues or anything.
Um... I guess that would work?

...I'm changing my answer to any reality where that doesn't exist.

The universe of Iain M Banks' Culture novels. Post-scarcity but of a tremendously higher tech level than Star Trek. Immortality can be had for the asking, as can pretty much anything else you might desire including change of species or personality if you happen to get tired of your old ones.

Hmmm, true, and the xenophile in my would certainly jump at the chance of being a pony, but I don't think life would be so bad there as a human. Not for me, anyway. Meat makes me sick, so that part of a diet isn't really a problem for me. And the OP never said that once you get there, you can't seek to improve or change your own position. So who knows, maybe you could just magic it up if you can find a powerful caster. I mean, there's Changelings, and Twilight changes a frog into a living orange, among other wacky events, so we know there's some transformation magic going on in Equestria. Nothing saying you can't go and ask for that. Just have to hope not to be changed into an orange.

Pokemon. Not the edgy, hardcore pokemon of fanfics or people who hate happiness, but good ol' classic Pokemon, where I can walk around with a giant dog and get challenged to fights by some 10 year old with a dozen Metapods. Granted, I doubt I'd be a trainer (I don't even competitive in this world) and instead just catch a bunch of shit I like and live somewhere far away from any major plot happenings.

Or be a Gym Leader. There's always a Ghost type one somewhere, me and my 6 Chandelure's can totally get behind that.

The world of the 'Culture' series by Ian Banks.

Centuries of hedonism honestly doesn't seem so terrible to me...

Pokemon, where I live out my days telling fellow trainer the magic behind making their own Secret Base...

Other than that... uh... whichever world Fraggle Rock takes place it, I guess... (And, now I'm thinking of a Attack on Titan/Fraggle Rock crossover for some reason...)
Damn, me... You ninja so fine!

But seriously, Pokemon or Fraggle Rock for me...
Quotception, yo...

Other than that, I guess the "fictional universe" that Loading Ready Run takes place in... I'm sure I'll fit in somehow... :p

Kamurocho. Sure, there's quite a lot of criminal activity, but with a little luck and a lot of patience to learn how to fight, I think I could make a niche for myself in one of the most fleshed-out cities I've ever visited in fiction.

You just gotta look at the worlds where the special parts of it would be accessible to normal people. Pokemon is a no brainer for me- there's Pokemon you can catch by just throwing a ball at them, and you can work your way up from there. I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to find a pokeball- actual children tend to be holding enough to buy a bunch of them.

Not sure I'd have any real goals once there, though. Maybe fight pokecrimes?

The Dresden Files universe. Magic exists, but I also get to have heating, plumbing, and other modern conveniences. The monsters might be a bit of a bugger, but I'd know what they are and how to defeat them, or at least how to escape from them.

I almost picked Equestria, but clothing is probably rarer and more expensive in Equestria (since clothing is usually for formal functions and most inhabitants don't need clothes) and I prefer humans for company. Well, for intimate company considering I'm hypothetically going to live in this setting for the rest of my life.
Ah, that's a good point that I overlooked. Clothes are really super important to me, since I'm more prudish when it comes to nudity than most people would expect of me. Well, at least when it comes to myself.
Hell, maybe I'd just get some red bed sheets and safety pins, and just wear that. Explain it away as me being a techpriestess or something.
I'm less worried about prudishness and more about practicality. Sure the ponies probably won't give a shit if my genitals are flowing in the wind for everyone to see (either ponies have invisible genitals or I'd have the biggest dick in Equestria by mere virtue of it being visible without a microscope, so I guess that might squick them out a bit) as I am the cold. Even on a good day I'd want a jacket handy. As a human I don't have fur to keep me warm the rest of the time.
Just mention that to Rarity and I'm sure she'd whip you up a lovely warm coat and trousers in no time. Or mention it to Fluttershy and maybe you'd be lucky enough to get keep-warm snuggles. ;D

Yeah, snuggles from a bear. "But he's furry so I thought that would help."

OT: I could easily agree with many of the ones mentioned: star trek, mlp, fraggle rock, pokemon, and so on. I've noticed most people looking for places where they can live peaceful lives and hopefully still have awesome tech. I'd be cool with that (and I would most likely pick either Equestria or Star Trek TNG). But I would also love to live in the Star Wars universe. I'd learn to be a pilot and join the rebellion. Even if I died on my first run I wouldn't mind. Just for the love of god don't spawn me on Alderran the day the empire came calling.

There's probably some really idyllic settings from certain anime and stuff: outlaw star and chobits both come to mind, not to mention all of those visual novels as someone else already suggested. For a guilty pleasure until I die universe, I have to admit I'd be tempted to live in the dead or alive universe; the one with the endless beach volleyball on the private island filled with beautiful women as opposed to the ninja gaiden tie-in fighting tournament.

Hah, yeah, that would be Fluttershy logic. On the other hand, that bear DOES look pretty warm and snuggly. I would have to make the case that it's Fluttershy's kindness that would help keep me warm, not just the fur. Therefore it HAS to be her. *makes big pleading eyes at the cute yellow pony*

Star Trek. Post-scarcity super-tech society where you do what you love because you want to.

I'd be able to go back to school and learn/research basically whatever I wanted.
With you on that, yep. When I can possibly do what I want instead of what I need to do in order to survive? And with the kind of medicine and technology available to me? Yeah, I'd prefer Star Trek's time to any other fictional universe.
