That went well I think.

So, anyone here ever try Dwarf Fortress? The "graphics" may make your eyes bleed, and the UI is secretly out to maim you. Even if you can get past that, just setting up basic industries, or even worse, a functioning military or hospital, is almost painfully hard.

I had a dwarf die after he was maimed by a wild bear. I told the soldiers to go kill it, but they were too busy watching their militia captain give a kicking demonstration. I should mention that the captain has no legs. Not my fault, that happened to her before she migrated to my fort.

Urist McMauled didn't die from his wounds, but from starvation, because no-one bothered to go out and help him to the hospital after the bear left. Not one of the dozen or so dedicated doctors, or any of the ~50 idlers doing SFA. Apparently, hospital jobs such as rescuing, feeding, and mending wounded have an incredibly low priority.

Probably League of Legends at the moment. Started playing it with a friend a few days ago, we've just been playing against bots and have yet to move onto proper pvp.
If you're on the Oceanic Server we should play together! I could help out/feed alongside you guys!

OT: Every time you head into a new area in Dragon's Dogma. There is no way of knowing what level or strength the enemy are going to be in each area (or how many will come out of nowhere even at day time) until they take out 2/3 of your health in a single hit. I took an escort quest not knowing that the path I had to take to reach the location was swarming with enemies that took 5 minutes or more to kill.

Dead or Alive has always handed me my ass on a silver platter. I also never play a sports game, such as Madden, mainly since I don't watch/care about real sports.

Shadowgate when I was 7 years old. I had no idea what I was doing, but it was awesome. Catchy music, more deaths than Dark Souls.

Most of the times I tried to play Morrowind. Or the original Fallout. Had no idea how anything worked, and didn't have a manual. Also, the UI in The Witcher still sends me to paroxysms of despair. By god, what lovecraftian mongoloid monstrosity designed that pile of shit?

IL2-Sturmovik. I play Dwarf Fortress, and IL2S has too much going on for me. Granted it might be because I have a fairly minimalist joystick, but all the crap you need to keep track of just to turn as tight as your opponent when you're in a superior machine is just too much.

That, and the posters on the forums were more interested in telling us newbs how stupid we were for thinking we could do something a certain way than telling us the proper way to do it. They would write a dozen paragraphs on how wrong we were, but nothing on how to do it right.

I might have kept going if not for that.

any paradox grand strategy: looks compelling at first, but then you try it, and realize, that damn... that's a shittone of shit you need to know

X-series: same as above, i guess

Don't Starve. It has a nice atmosphere, but is unforgiving and I still don't know how anything works.
I would recommend sticking with it. Don't Starve is one of my personal favourite games of recent years, mainly due to being able to survive for 10/20 days and feeling like I've barely scratched the surface.

Oh another good one, the Elona rogue-like RPG.
No idea if anyone knows what I'm talking about, but it's massively interactive and extremely difficult.

Probably not as bad as Dwarf Fortress or Net Hack, but it's still up there.

I'm going with Skullgirls aswell. After finishing the story mode with my two favorite fighters I thought I could try an online match.
I have no idea what happened after that. I could'nt even make ONE attack...

This. This right here.

I forged through the horrendously inadequate tutorials and thought I was ready to start getting shit done.

After about half an hour... yeah, no, fuck that.

I'm willing to believe there's a great game buried under there somewhere, but I won't be playing it any time soon.

Pretty much every MOBA game is this for me, along with a lot if not most FPS games, TF2 being the only one I'm somewhat decent at.

I've tried a few of the Europa Universalis games and they just don't click with me. Far too complicated and I don't like setting my own goals. In Civilization the inherent goal is always to try to conquer the world but EU, it all just seems pointless.

You were...Mystified?

If you think Crusader Kings 2 is bad, try getting along with Victoria 2. That was my first attempt at trying the grand strategy genre.

And my last, because the moment I booted it up the game kicked me in the balls with its insane amounts of data and options, all wrapped in one clusterfuck of a UI.

Other than that there were:

- X3: Reunion The moment I spawned in that game all I managed to do was sort of...float in space and spaz about. I just went "Nope."

- Europa Universalis 3 Same thing as Victoria 2 really. Why did I even buy that?!

- League of Legends SO MANY THINGS GOING ON OH GOD WHAT'S HAPPENING WHY AM I DEAD AHHH. Queue de-installation.

- Beat Hazard It was like some kind of audio-visual god splooged right into my face. I didn't even know what I was watching.

- Chivalry: Medieval Warfare Oh sure, it's technically simple enough, but figuring out how to be halfway decent at it is another matter.

- AI War: Fleet Commant I was just...so confused.

Dwarf Fortress shenanigans
Do you use the LazyNewbPack? Or at least DwarfTherapist? Because that makes dishing out orders so much easier.

Indeed, taking care of fellow dwarves is a dreadfully low priority. Hence why, when I finally get a proper hospital, I usually have one or two dwarves reserved with just taking-care-of-dwarves jobs activated.

Dota 2. Sucked at it then and sucking in it now with no metaphorical boat on sight. It is especially frustrating since I love watching pro-plays but as soon as the game starts, my brain goes numb under the pressure of limitless possibilities.

But I can safely say that Dota 2 is a legit sport since I can't seem to do any better in it either.

This fucking game when I was a kid. I could never figure out how to get my robot to fight properly. He kept running into walls, firing missiles at nothing. Side stepping around like some kind of weird robot ballet.
