But with regards to this news story: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/processor-memory-power-consumption-magnet,news-35950.html

Magnets, HOW DO THEY WORK?!

In all seriousness, this could have profound implications in the way smart phones and other mobile sectors are used (for gaming too) and I'm sure there are some tech heads here so I thought it might be a good discussion point.

I only know basics in electronics and magnetism so it's way over my head sounds bloody expensive though.

We're hearing about a ton of awesome tech recently, and I can't wait to see it implemented into everyday life. I can imagine this having profound effects on, well, everything.

Off topic: I was worried that this would be a spoiler thread for ADWD, before I clicked on it. :p

This is pretty interesting, although I doubt it will truly impact pollution, have ridiculous initial costs and will take years before the technology is realesed to the public. It would be awesome to have portable devices with huge battery life, and it is one step closer to exploring more of outer-space.
