I really wanted Feudal Japan and new (not Desmond) modern day person in the Animus.
Ubisoft is still considering that, among other periods/locations, but they have to finish Desmond's story first.

I'm sick of everyone saying the fucking revolution, all I see is an American Flag, could be the civil war, or better yet, the trail of fucking tears. That'd make for an interesting game. Trail of tears specifically, we could climb the grand canyon folks.
Pretty sure that flag had a lot more stars during the Civil War/ trail of tears...

Well, colour me unimpressed. What a waste of potential, I reckon the decision to take the game here was made in a boardroom full of money men after a guaranteed buck.

Well this looks like an interesting successor to Ezio, its hard to tell anything other than the setting from the image but it does seem a bit gung-ho lets go America though. But even that is more original than reusing Ezio 3 games and 3 years in a row.

Yay! Another thread devolves into "Amaricuh sux!". I'm glad this is set in America. For many reasons. We all knew it had to end up in America, where else would the most powerful Christian headquarters be? ROME? HAH, they're a figure head. Can't wait to play assassin missions against the religious right in America.

Secondly, the game has been in every country EXCEPT America for the past 4 titles! So 1 time out of 5 and it's "thes producers are ghey, thay pander Americah!"?

Thirdly, I am really looking forward to whether or not JWB was a assassin, or just a murderer of Abe Lincoln. It'll be interesting how they choose the interweave conspiracy into the founding fathers ideals.

They have all the time periods in history and they choose this one? Can I make a huge guess who the bad guys are gonna be?

And here I was, thinking they'd do something interesting.

While it being set in the American Revolution isn't any sort of a shock, the idea of using a Native American feels slightly forced and I'm not looking foward to how bad they make the Brits out to be *cough*The Patriot*cough*. Also, as someone who loved the earlier games for the architecture, I feel there could have been a lot more to be gained from 17th Century Paris during the revolution or 18th Centry London during the industrial revolution.

Good lord Ubisoft, you're almost becoming as bad Activision with these games. Who wants to buy a new Assassin's Creed every year?
*Raises Hand*
Personally, I'd rather wait for the ideas trough to be a bit more full, I'm half expecting this to mainly feature "double hook blades".

I hope this is real, as that outfit is quite badass in my humble opinion, the tomahawk is a nice touch too.

Being one of the few people that's going to genuinely miss Ezio kind of irks me though... Really, what is it everyone has against him?
Hmm, being in three games might have something to do with it. Honestly, I thought he was loads better than Altier. You could see him grow as an assassin.

Well, I think they will probably not make the British into monsters like in "The Patriot". I think the story will probably be that secret bunker we saw in Ezio's last game, being in America I think it was, The British will have several Ranking officers that are part of the Templars, So the british may be used as your main enemy, they will most likely be like the gaurds in the last few games, most there just to be unfortunite victums.

I read in a Game Informer about Revelations that they went to great lengths trying to not make the Templar/ Assassin conflict seem like a black and white good and evil thing (if I recall, it was a benevolent dictatorship vs. a grassroots anarchy), so I hope they don't turn the British or the Loyalists into monsters or the like. I hope that by being both a Native and an Assassin that the new character (almost called him Ezio by habit) will be more or less neutral in the revolution itself, only fighting the Templars, regardless of who they are. Having the American flag as a backdrop isn't promising, but I sincerely hope that's just to clue us in on what time period it takes place in. I bet there will be a Paul Revere mission. Probably an escort.

If they don't handle this properly, Assassin's Creed III will be the one of the series that nobody likes. At all.

Aww man, strange how one image can get me totally hyped up about a game. Really interesting setting here. Me gusta.

I called this setting months ago. It always made the most logical sense to me, especially given the difference in time between ACs 1&2 (roughly 300 years), and the series' focus on 'interesting events or periods' and their associated locales. Therefore: (Renaissance + roughly 300 years x interesting events) divided by the need to bring the story closer to Desmond = Late 18th century America.

I was hoping we'd go east. Or maybe southwest to Egypt. Or maybe-

Okay, anywhere but here. Still, Templar founding fathers would be an interesting shakeup. Imagine them introducing more would-be historical people that could have been founding fathers, but instead drew the short straw and ended up as assassination targets. Or maybe siding with a secret alliance of British and native Americans to oppose the colonization efforts. The possibilities for alternate historical interpretations are endless. Although if you screw this up and just recount Revolutionaries=good, Loyalists=bad, I'mma gonna have to unleash a fiery can of my admittedly amateur raeg at you.

At least you're finally doing something with that eagle symbolism, hey?

Oh, and the American Revolution is not an interesting time period. Here's what happened: America was sick of the high british taxation rate and, instead of just complaining, or sending a guy, they sank a British ship. The war started then, but the Brits really weren't all that into it. They didn't really want to hold on to the colonies, they just fought as a matter of principle. Then the French joined in, siding with the Yanks, and Britain pulled out because America was far more trouble than it was worth.

In other words: Shame on you Ubisoft for abandoning whatever awesome idea you had come up with in favour of this blatant pandering to the American market. I hope you realise that now the only people who will uy this game are Yanks, now, right?
You don't know much about the Revolution, do you?

OT: Not convinced this is real. That would require a change in the formula of the game with it's heavy melee fighting, roof climbing, ect. And we all know that developers don't change a formula mid-series. Or ever sometimes.

I was kinda hoping for Victorian London (and I see I wasn't alone in that), but I'm not complaining. This is one of the few series of games I've actually cared about from the start 'till now, so I'm definitely looking forward to this. Come to think of it, considering how/where the last one ended, it really shouldn't have come as any kind of surprise. But that's hindsight for you. (I honestly hadn't even considered it...)

This is interesting. Victorian England would have been my preferred choice but this is very good as well. I'm really looking forward to see what they're going to do next with the story and what new ways of killing people we'll have, besides the obvious axe and gun from the picture and their trademark, the hidden blade.
I don't know whether it's true but I've read that they've been working on it for the last three years, so hopefully, it will be good and polished game. I'm certainly excited.

Can we have a source on this? I'm not really doubting you but I've seen plenty of high quality fan art for Assassin's Creed in the American and French revolutions.
Kotaku [http://kotaku.com/5889489/is-this-the-star-of-assassins-creed-iii] received this picture from a Best Buy worker. He claims that it's the game's promotional art.
But it is still unconfirmed. I won't be believing this until Ubisoft confirms it themselves, a Best Buy employee isn't exactly the most reliable source.

Well, for me, his story kind of wrapped itself up it 2, and it felt like they were just dragging it on for two more games while they could have introduced another main assassin or two and explored more time periods.
