and he gets taken forward in time in the year 2000.
So why does it seem like his whole life played out in the 80s.

He plays 80s video games, talks about 80s music, and references events from the 80s

because he was 20 something in the year 2000, which means he was a child of the 80s. Of all the questions to ask about fry, this seems the simplest.

Now people who were fry's age and acting like fry, are in their late 30s And they're just as immature.

Because he was in his mid 20s so he was born in the mid 70s

Most of his childhood, which is mainly what we've seen of Fry's pre-frozen life, happened in the eighties. Going by the assumption that he was twenty-three when he went into the freezer tube, he would have been born in 1976 and would have gone from four to fourteen during the eighties. And you'll have to add a few years into the nineties before the whole eighties fad died down.

Are you really asking this? I guess you weren't 20 in Y2K, right? By the way, you may be some age but be obsessed about another decade like some people who like Rockabilly or Medieval stuff. There's no rule against that.

It's OK. Now, let's move along to the next thread...

If Fry was 25 when he was transported in the year 2000, that means he was born in 1975. That makes him 5 when the 80s started and 15 just as the 90s started (and, to be fair, the early 90s and the late 80s are relatively indistinguishable). So yes, most of his childhood did take place in the 80s.

Take a look at all the 20-30 somethings and their view on music/movies/games.
All I hear (well, not all but a lot) is "they don't make them like they used to" or "music/movies/gaming today is dead today".
