I have a pretty over active imagination, even at my age which often makes me feel like i am slightly immature or kiddish if you will. I day dream all the time, and make up stories, I do it out of boredom or just because hey i do enjoy a good mental movie.
Ever since i was a kid i would start up a game with this sense of anticipation, wide eyed awe at whatever i was to discover in the games. Hell even when i played racing games i often felt the same exhilaration just going around the tracks taking the sights in.
Then after some time i would often times find myself growing bored with the story or the task i was supposed to be working on. I'd like to point out my mom thought role-playing games were evil and when she found out black & white was a role-playing God game she flipped her lid, so i wasnt exactly in contact with many RPG type games were playing a character is the whole point. Anyways, like i was saying i would get bored with the game for example again the racing i'd pretend i was driving around my neighborhood doing errands waving at the neighbors speeding by in the opposite direction or, dare it happen, getting into a tragic head on collision.
With the emergence of open-world gameplay and open ended RPGs i noticed it's a lot easier to play the game in your own way, or pretend you're living some fantasy life. MMORPGs, i think, are particularly addictive to players such as myself with that sort of habit... although killing 250 lions for 10 livers does start to wear on you.
The whole point of this ramble is that i was wondering how many of you have played a game and maybe gone against the general flow of the game or flat out play it wrong to enjoy your fantasy world for a bit.
Maybe you also got sick of killing aliens and just wanted to watch a movie and check out some strippers in the first level of Duke 3d
