....Thank God

If Modern Warfare 2 is anything to go by, I'm glad that they're not making a new one for now.
Hopefully they'll make another when it will be nice and refreshing, not just like sucking in the air from a balloon you just inflated.

If only your opinion were fact as much as you state it as such. I frickin' love first person mode for melee. Get all visceral and up close. I'll give that Oblivion's melee combat was less than stellar, but then again, it's not exactly realistic either, what with always taking damage while blocking (though M&B-style no damage at all is too far on the other end of the spectrum).

Oh, and I determine block direction manually. Auto-block is for wussies. So are shields.
Well obviously it's all opinion, feel free to try and prove me wrong though.

Heh, good luck playing some of the mods for it in first person where combat was ramped up to "OH FUCK" levels. The only part of first person melee which worked well was lance combat as it was far easier to aim then in third (as well as being much more intense), otherwise you just cant see what's going on well enough with your stance and the like to be succesful.

By ripping off Warhammer 40k (or just buying Games Workshop outright).

Hey, it's a plausible guess! Those guys have Avogadro's number of one-hundred dollar bills!
MW2 crossed with 40k would be bloody awesome. As long as marines were kept well away multiplayer would be a blast (IG vs Nids, please).

Oh, great news. They've become uninspired, going for more fanservice than a solid plot.

Damn. I was looking forward to the akimbo scoped silenced Colt Naval Revolver shotguns and the heat-seeking shurikens.

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if these days, more of the public knowledge of Warhammer came from games like Dawn of War II than the ever-more-niche tabletop market. It'd be interesting to see.
You have no idea. In a warhammer group we have a running gag - when people ask us for tips on warhammer 1/ warhammer 2, we usually give them strategy guides for Dark Omen and Shadow of the Horned Rat. And those are some 60% of all conversations. Anybody new asking about the tabletop is considered a gift from the ruinous powers.

Old news? Treyarch was saying a while back the next CoD:MW would be thiers to do. Which is probably alright, since I respect WaW more than MW2. WaW wasn't as good as CoD4, but god I dispise MW2 and all the unjust publicity it gets for being a hammed up, overhyped piece of crap.

Such as? I've played many mods, and I've almost always done pretty well with two-handed infantryman. (Except for that one mod where horses did around 50 damage from one trample hit. Not so fun. Can't remember the name for the life of me though.) Besides, when you've turned off autoblock, you kind of need first-person as it can get easy to miss your opponent's next attack direction if your character is taking up most of his space on the screen by standing in front of him.

This is kind of derailing, though, so I'll just add "want Call of Duty: Sino-Indian Warfare".

Well hopefully this means that the next company to make a Call of Duty game will keep dedicated servers and stop messing up probably the best thing the PC has going for it.

I think anyone who has played and enjoyed MW2 agrees there needs to be a sequel - MW2 had a cliffhanger ending and that needs to be wrapped up. I don't believe for one moment IW or Activision will let the series rest now - and so what if MW3 would be a comedown after the epic over the top events of MW2? It would need to be in order to allow that series to come to an end (I think a trilogy of MW games is perfectly reasonable).

Incidentally, I see a lot of people complaining about MW2's plot/story making no sense and assume it went right over their heads. I'm not just saying this out of a smug sense of superiority. I've previously seen people asking some of the most ridiculous questions about MW2's story and drawn my own conclusions from that. There was pretty much no part of MW2's story that was actually nonsensical in context of the story as a whole and I have to conclude anyone moaning about MW2's story either:
1) Didn't play MW1 to get the backstory,
2) Didn't pay any attention at all to what was going on in MW2,
3) Didn't play MW2 at all and is merely ripping on it for being popular, or
4) Is just plain dumb.

The game was over the top, ridiculous action movie violence and 'splosions, with elements of some of the most improbable hypothetical events thrown together. I'm not sure why that's a crime, but not liking the story isn't the same as it being bad. Learn it.

This might come as a blow, but I don't really mind being dead to you:s

Also, It's time to realize not everyone likes the same things... Me for example don't care much for Soap and his silly hair...

Yeah, but that's not medieval combat on a semi realistic level like you'd expect from CoD, I'm not talking about Oblivion'esq "hurr mash sword into stuff" type combat.
Aprt from the fantasy setting and magic, theres nothing unrealistic about Dark Messiah, just remove all the spells (which were only a distraction from excellent melee anyway) and the orcs and undead.

And Dark Messiah did not have combat at all like Oblivions. It was FUN, with a capital F

Yes because A: There will still be Captian Price, and B: He will been in plate armor. That is awesome.
Nay - Sir Pricealot, royal knight of Arthur.
That is so much better than "Ye Olde Captian Price"

I will admit i'm utterly indifferent. After recently buying and finishing MW1 thinking 'good game, but not worth the £45 tag when it first came out', watching my mates fork out the same amount for MW2 only to complete it 4 hours later, i wouldn't exactly miss it. not to be said that i;d cheer and whoop to hear this news either, but it would hardly the gaming apocalypse for me and when the whole franchise should end, i doubt it will be long remembered. xx
