Though I think the man has some issues, I say that he should release the game, as it is his right to release his work.

And we, as gamers, should refuse to play his mod.

Let the industry and news see that we, as gamers, don't put up with this kind of crap. When they say he made it, direct them to the page that shows that only a few people, compared to the entirety of people who own Half Life 2, have even touched it. Show them that other mods, like Garry's Mod, Goldeneye:Source or They Hunger have had thousands upon thousands of hits, while his pathetic excuse for a game gets a handful, at best.

That, more than anything, would be a statement from the gaming community.

I certainly don't agree with his view about the medium, that all games can and should ever be is mindless, tasteless entertainment. He's a retard in that respect. I also don't agree with him in the respect that he's not putting any real effort into this, and that he seems to be making it purely to offend people. The subject matter is not presented in a tasteful way, and it doesn't even look that fun (Orange levels and stock HL2 characters, really?).

That being said, he has every right to make and release whatever he pleases, as we have every right to choose whether or not to play it. Anyone who would seek an outright ban just because they find it tasteless (which I do) is no better than Jack Thompson or Micheal Attkinson.

Wow, just WOW. Why would you do this? It will allow all those 'games make you a psycho' gits to actually have something which has you playing as a realistic psycho, with realistic weapons, in a realistic setting - killing innocent people.
You have played GTA IV, haven't you? Or any of them for that matter.

I'm not defending this guy, but that's a rather loose description you're giving. Its in extremely poor taste, but you could argue that about plenty of games if you really wanted.
GTA IV realistic?

Oh shit, after rocket sniping people from a building the cops are after me! Quick, spawn a helicopter with my cell phone! Then jump out as it crashes and be perfectly okay!

OT: This is just plain... horrible. Why would anybody in their right mind make a game out of something so realistically horrific?

Answer: They aren't in their right mind.

If one can't tell the difference between pixels and real people, this mod is the absolute least of your worries. Have our minds been reduced to so much gelatin that geometric shapes and rag-doll physics being "shot" gets so many up in arms about it? if the title was switched to something else and the textures were swapped for "generic zombie flesh 03" or something, no one would say a word about it and that is the truly scary part.

If the graphics remained the same and something as simple as the title was changed (Hobbit massacre) the only complaint would be why aren't their feet bigger? no one would be up in arms over the feelings of the families of the hobbits, killing hobbits won't set the gaming industry back, it's just make believe. Here's something that will bake your noodles, some guy out there plays this mod and instead of shooting he just rubs the gun (phallic symbol) against the geometric shapes that crudely represents human females, now suddenly it's a "pedophile" game.

Point is this: with-in society you have your freaks, weirdos and lunatics, cannibals can't blame pac-man for their actions, Manson didn't own an Xbox and Hitler didn't have a copy of the "jewinator" on his PC. The people who cry down this mod on emotional bias alone could as well join hands with the loons at fox, you both share skewed views of the medium and want everyone else to as well. Then spill vile at anyone with views to the contrary of your narrow beliefs. When you click the mouse or push a button, the only thing you ever really kill is time.

Lol The developer is a sociopath(wiki it and then see his comments about Haiti and school shootings), and the mod is one enormous troll aimed at the world as a whole. Do not feed the troll guys.

I'm not going to play it, don't really see the appeal in it personally and although I wish I wouldn't, I would feel guilty about it, but this guy is a hero for the way he handled that interview. He has serious balls and puts out the wakeup call our oversensitive, overdramatic society desperately needs.

While the interview reveals that he's surprisingly intelligent and has a well-thought out position, he's still a shallow, tasteless, evil-minded fuckwit. This is just sick. This has no redeeming value whatsoever. THIS is why I think free speech is overrated. This is on par with going to the funerals of strangers and shouting foul, slanderous abuse about the deceased at the mourners for fun, and then defending your actions on the basis that you're "not hurting anyone". Seriously, FUCK this guy to hell. I seriously hope something horrible happens to him, because he genuinely deserves it.

You're batting 1.000 for quality post. The only thing that need's to added to this game is a story. Hopefully someone else could pick up on that. Let me live the shooter's last week of life. Motivation and all that jazz.

Ehh, the guy can make it, there's no law against it and he's not selling it.

That doesn't make him any less of an asshole for doing so.

Sounds fun, if only to give the middle finger to society.
EDIT: Now that I've actually seen the trailer...I felt sick. And I never feel sick about this stuff. I think this is wrong. And I laugh at 9\11 jokes. Maybe it's because I never knew anybody, but still this is disturbing. I can see trying to make it educational but it's doing it wrong. This is just sick.
If you read the article... he refuses to make it educational. He wants it to be brainless fun, "like Bulletstorm".

oh god

first they make clones of CoD (Which they sould Stop)

NOW Bulletstorm too!?

I hope to god if Fox news sees this they will blame Bulletstorm

oh who the hell am i kidding, Those idiots will blame it ether on Bulletstorm or Obama

Of course its not realistic, but the city itself is, as are the weapons. And Niko's got a fucking split-personality if ever I saw one. One half of which is psychopathic.

"We are offended, and must remind this dimwit not to do this crap again. We should continue to be upset, even though we wouldn't be if it were set in an office. It may be hypocritical, but everything is different and has different connotations."

That is what I find interesting, the hypocrisy of it. Would there be this much outrage if this was a congo death-squad simulator? if this was a mod based around the Tonton Macoute? if the demographic can't relate to the what the pixels on the screen represent, there wouldn't even be a sentence dedicated to this thing.

"We are offended, and must remind this dimwit not to do this crap again."

Is he not to offend again? or is he not to be so callous to a sensitive subject again? "It's in really poor taste" is a very subjective statement. What concerns me isn't the thinking that made this mod possible or hate speech or bigotry, the concern is how frighteningly easy it is to slip under the radar. Folks who cry out about this wouldn't even bat an eye-lash about the "ganja farmer game" or a shooting at a room full of osama-bin-ladens "game", that is my concern, that is what should be examined. You can censor this guy now and feel good and move on, but aren't you the least bit concerned that your radar can be so easily bypassed.

I think there's a big freaking difference between a school shooter where you're killing children and teachers and a game where you shoot osama-bin-ladens.
