Hey all,
I've been listening to some cool instrumental music lately, I've never really given the genre a try before so I don't know much about it. But some of the stuff I've heard so far is pretty cool, and I'm looking for some artists/songs.

My favourite Instrumental....song...so far, is probably Clubbed to Death by Robert Dougan.

I guess I'm looking for cool sounding things like these, kind of electronic but definitely not something like Techno....yuck.

So, any recommendations?

Best instrumental ever.

Though if you're not a fan you should just kill yourself I can provide many others.

Isan, electronic, but very different from what I'm sure you're thinking of by "techno"

A Hawk and a Hacksaw, very Eastern European inspired instrumental music.

Just look aruond the growing number of D'n'B artists and sample some of their more pretentious works; judging from the song you posted that should hit the spot.

If you can do without the melodramatically wailing violins you should check out some slow-paced Goa.

Well it's not electronic and it has a little bit of choir but Heart of Courage by Two Steps from Hell.

Try some Jean Michel Jarre or Vangelis. Both are electronic (and Jarre was one of the first to make this kind of music) and not techno.

It is not like what you posted but usually more symphonic.

Here are a few songs I like, artists like Bonobo, Nujabes, Nomak, Michita, Himuki, DJ Okawari as well as the ones I've posted here are all worth looking into.

Oh man, this shit is my forte.

Look up some Tortoise for instrumental Post-Rock, and Medeski, Martin & Wood if you're into Jazz.

Can't go wrong with Joe Satriani. Surfin' With The Alien makes a good starting point.

How about... a string quartet covering Clubbed to Death?

I would also recommend the Kronos Quartet and anything by Apocalyptica.

Stream Of Consciousness. I'll wait.

Seriously. Now.

(This post was full stop madness, that's how good it is)

Surfin' With The Alien is an overrated song that draws on too many rock guitar cliche's and incorporates some of the most annoying tapping I've ever heard.

I thought this was Hendrix's stuff, not Stevie Ray Vaughan's. Still good either way.
