Rooster Teeth site. Look up Red vs. Blue. It's a machinima series based on the Halo system that's now in it's 10th season and all the episodes are available, free, and funny.

Well first you have to find a fixed point in the timestream and then find a way to change it somehow...

Oh, not THAT kind of time-killing.

Yeah, RvB works well.

Just go on Cracked and TVTropes and then come back in a few days, having not slept or eaten, and say thank you for curing the boredom.

You need to watch Game Grumps. :D

The fan base even made animated videos and remixes, like this one!

Step #1: Find a Youtuber that you like who has a massive (say, 1,000+) number of videos.
Step #2: Become a hopeless shut-in for three months.
Step #3: ???
Step #4: I think "profit" is the wrong word here...

That, or just go to TVTropes. Expand your mind while wasting time!

I'm a HUGE fan of Cheapassgamer.com. Good community (especially for trading) and also lots of threads on game deals. I hardly pay MSRP for games now unless I want to.

Well, you're on the escapist now, so you answered your own question there.
And also everything above your post.

Don't forget to check out all the fail compilations on youtube. One for every month usually 10 minutes long, you can get a good few hours out of that.

XKCD. Not a huge amount of content, but enough to keep you busy for a while. I love the new 'What if?' section.

If you like webcomics, also try 8-bit Theater, it's incredibly long and hilarious.

I don't know if i am going to catch hell for this but... I think 4chan is quite nice. /B/ of course is completely retarded. But boards like /vg/(Video games general) and /mu/(Music) are actually full of really interesting discussions.

There is a place where there are really weird people (such as a a person whose real face can not be captured by sort of visual recording device, a man who may or may not be a robot and someone who is rather infamous for the words "You are about to become very Bright" )dealing with really weird things.
Loads of laugh (the great researcher prank war) and depending on what sort of person you are, paranoia and unease.

No offense moderators and administrators and site owners and everything, but the Escapist isn't all that super amazing.

I'd offer Andriasang, but... ;_;

Some other sites on the internet out there that I like and think are pretty cool are as follows...

Last.fm
TvTropes
Siliconera
NeoGAF
Ponychan
Desuchan
Hello-Online
Stage48
Only if you're an idol geek like me.
Doujinstyle I'd recommend that, but that'd probably be considered piracy. Also the boards have gone downhill, in my opinion.
EquestriaDaily
Feministing
MyAnimeList
Destructoid
Pooshlmer
1up
MSPaintAdventures(AKA Homestuck)
Sinfest
Starmen.net
IndieGames.com
Backloggery

And way, way more than I can honestly list.

If you like Sci Fi and like the mockery of your favourite Sci Fi shows, then this will be right up your street. Its not been updated in ages but is still a good way to while away a few hours.

Reddit, link aggregator/sorter and stealer of souls.

Some of the big ones:
www.reddit.com/r/funny (Jokes and memes)
www.reddit.com/r/gaming (gaming jokes and memes as well as random stuff)
www.reddit.com/r/games (Actual games discussion)
www.reddit.com/r/askreddit (People asking other people to tell stories and give advice over the internet always goes well)

Some personal favs that are more specialised:

www.reddit.com/r/tribes (Tribes Ascend and other tribes related stuff)
www.reddit.com/r/thelastairbender (Everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked)
www.reddit.com/r/planetside (Planetside 2 is shaping up to be an awesome game)
www.reddit.com/r/fitness (One part of the "delete facebook, lawyer up, hit the gym" holy trinity of self-improvement. Get SWOLE)
www.reddit.com/r/sex (Everything you wanted to know but were afraid to ask)
www.reddit.com/r/seduction (Take it with a grain of salt but it may help you meet some new friends now that you've moved somewhere new. Helps you get experience for the previous subreddit)

Oh and finally there's the r/gonewild subreddit (NSFW, 18+ only) for young women to post unsavory images of themselves in exchange for validation by random strangers who haven't seen the previous two subreddits.

I'm going to need to know more about what you enjoy to post anything.

Example: Are you a furry? Do you like webcomics? Do you like video games? Do you like looking at articles?
