In this case 24 million is probably a fair number. Works out to somewhere in the range of 1% to .5% of their population.

I actually did my graduating project on internet in China. While this is almost definitely PART of it, genuine internet addiction is a serious problem in Asia (see: gamers who die from exhaustion gaming). You have to remember that the government doesn't choose to take these people in, their parents pay to enroll them.Therumancer said:I'd imagine the actual issue isn't The Internet and what it does to the youth, but the fact that the Internet is impossible to entirely censor even with a national firewall, and kids are getting these odd ideas of things like freedom of speech and expression, and democracy, and similar things by using it to obtain information the goverment doesn't want them to hear.
Such have been my thoughts, I'd say it's more like a "re-education center" or "Gulag" than an addiction counseling center, or (for the sarcastic) concentration camp.
Hahaha. I just watched that video, it was priceless.Ashbax said:CSI: Internet Addiction Boot Camp.
I can imagine it now... "Looks like these nerds *Puts on sunglasses* ...just got pwn3d..."

But would you break out of the cafe by fighting your trainer, then rip off a taxi driver in order to get home? And all out of a reputable installation? I certainly wouldn't, and I don't think I know anybody who would.Ashbax said:Maybe they are only as "addicted" as you or me. Dude, this is CHINA we're talking about here. Thats only one step up from Korea.
I mean, jesus christ, they have CAMPS for internet addiction? Here we just have computers shops, game shops and internet cafés. Then again, I guess that doesn't help the problem.
They didn't run to go home. They were sent back after they stiffed a cab. Never piss off your getaway driver.Jezzascmezza said:What the hell did they expect to happen when they got home?
Their parents happy and congratulating them on their escape?
Bit sad really...
