Heres my question after a few hours of heavy drinking, Escapist Forums....

Motherfucking Iron Man right? Fucking rich pretty boy Tony Stark. He's got money. He's got bitches. He's not gloomy in the least.

How the fuck does everyone compare him to Batman? Isn't his logical DC Equal Lex Luthor? Ya know, the OTHER egomaniac billionaire with a robot suit that gets bitches and isn't emo?

Also the other question is, who wins in a fight? Now I know Tony has the Hulk Buster armor, but Lex designed his armor to go up against SUPERMAN. Can you imagine one Superman punch against one Hulk Punch? Plus heat vision. Plus freezebreath. Plus Xray vision. Lex's armor has to be vastly superior then the standard Ironman armor no?

In his current suit, Iron Man doesn't stand a chance.

BUT, I think one of Tony Stark's main attributes is that he adapts his suit and his thinking to the situation around him. If you put him in the DC Universe and gave him the time and/or resources to get information and make a new suit, he could easily make one powerful enough to take on Luthor.

Lex Luthor is one of the smartest people in DC Comics. I'm pretty sure he's smarter than Batman, at least when it comes to science. That being said, I can't recall a single one of his super suits having an actual helmet or really ANY sort of head protection, so Iron Man would just aim for his head and probably win. Tony Stark is a practical thinker, after all. That's why he built a helmet.

Then again, Luthor is as conniving as he is intelligent, so he'd probably cheat all kinds of hardcore. Iron Man would walk into a trap, even if Lex came to him. Even if Lex attacked Iron Man in Tony's own house. Even if Tony knew it was a trap and prepared, Lex would reveal that that trap was a ruse and the REAL trap has been sprung while Tony wasn't looking! Even if Iron Man detected THAT trap and started winning, Luthor would activate the REALLY REAL trap when he appears to be on his last legs, prefering to let Iron Man think he won just to make his defeat that much more crushing. And even if Tony knew ALL OF THAT and planned accordingly, defeating Luthor, it would just turn out to be a robot duplicate that would catastrophically explode just before Tony's still human reflexes could realize and react to it. And even if Tony SOMEHOW got out of that, Lex would have been watching and would unleash a salvo of Lexcorp missiles on the location immediately, followed by an armed clean-up crew to make sure there was nothing left.

So let's just say Luthor would probably win. He has no sense of honor or mercy and doesn't like to get his hands dirty. At least when he's not going completely crazy.

Doesn't Iron man's faceplate lift up?

That hardly seems secure.

Still a helmet. Luthor doesn't even have hair.

Iron Man would win the fisticuffs/dust-up.
Only to find that Stark Solutions had experienced a hostile takeover from Lexcorp while he was distracted.

Well that sums up everything in about a sentence. "Iron Man he built a helmet."

On a slightly less related note the only version I like of Lex Luthor I like is the elseworld story's where he is the good guy.

Did you not see my huge diatribe there? Lex wouldn't even BE there, and he'd probably still win.

Yeah I saw it, but it was just to convoluted for me to care. Hay I also just summed up why like comic books that much. All the double trap, "oh I knew it all along," your the baby's daddy. It's just so unreal. Note not unrealistic. Just uncanny.

Doesn't Lex Luthor's suit generate a force field?

Because people can't come to terms with Batman being a wizard, rather than a normal guy with no powers.

I would think of Mr Fantastic more as the equivalent of Lex Luthor, though. I know he has superpowers, but his greatest asset has always been his intellect and ability to plan. Stark is a smart man, but Luthor has become downright Machiavellian over the years.

Now I know Tony has the Hulk Buster armor, but Lex designed his armor to go up against SUPERMAN.
Stark's gone against borderine Gods, too. I have faith in Stark's ability to adapt.

But I wouldn't put Luthor's strength in an up-front confrontation.

This is a much better match up, the ultimate Marvel villain vs. the ultimate DC villain.

Now I think about it, where or what is Lex power source to power up his suit? I mean we all know Tony is the arc reactor in his chest (well the one we know the most since didn't he get it removed in the comic but can still be Iron Man)?

Anyway to me I think Tony would win and it isn't all about the stats/ ability on both of their suits. The suit is only just as good as the wearer.

I just think Tony quick minded and fast pace personality would give him a slight advantage over Lex egomaniac personality.

Iron man. Why you may ask? Cause tony stark is something lex has never faced before, a hero who is willing to kill to win.
