Iron Sky Goes Worldwide

Iron Sky, the indie film about a Nazi invasion from the dark side of the moon, is headed to theaters around the world.

It's no secret that I've been pretty taken with Star Wreck [http://www.ironsky.net]. That's good enough for the girls I go with.

Fortunately, I don't appear to be alone in my desire to catch Iron Sky on the big screen. The distribution rights to the film have now been sold to more than 70 countries [http://www.ironsky.net/site/film/releasedates/], meaning it will hit at least 1000 screens worldwide, and more may be coming. "The crowd is an unstoppable force. Our fans are getting active in the countries that do not have distribution in place yet," said Producer Tero Kaukomaa. "Our fans include staff and owners at movie theaters in many places around the world, who have come directly to us to arrange a screening."

So far, Iron Sky theatrical releases have been confirmed for Finland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, UK, France, Former Yugoslavia, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Czech Republic & Slovakia, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China (pending government approval), Korea, Thailand, Middle East, Israel, USA, Canada, Indonesia, Greek, India and Hong Kong. It premiered in February at the Berlin International Film Festival and made its first appearance in the U.S. at the South By Southwest Festival [SXSW] last week.

Reviews for Iron Sky have been mixed so far: Screen Daily [http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2012/feb/13/berlin-2012-iron-sky-review] declared that "genre fans should lap up the film." But the truth is, I don't care. This is a movie about Nazis from the the moon, and if it lands anywhere near me, you better believe that I'm going to be all over it.

I will drive up to 100 kilometres to see this. Hopefully that casts me a wide enough net. Good thing we have a few indie theatres in my city that specialize showing stuff like this :)

I would love to watch this film if it's available in the cinemas over here.
I just want to see the conflicted reactions of the Nazis view of the modern technologies (there was that scene that they don't view the Ipod is a computer compare to those really old one in another trailer) and as seen in that trailer the politicians is baffle/ bewilder at the concept of a space Nazis.

They had me at Space Nazis. Even if the movie itself fails horribly in acting, effects and plot...

Space. Nazis.

It ain't playing in Dutch theaters, and that stems me pretty damn sad. Gods this looks ridiculously awesome.

They'd better release a DVD soon.

Dammit! Why is this not in australia?? We provided most of the filming locations and THIS is how they thank us?
You do understand that it's Australian cinemas who have to purchase the rights to screen it, right? Not a decision taken by the producers.

Reapers, Bah. Space Nazi beat Reapers any day. I've been waiting for this movie to come around for such a long time. It's such an interesting and giggle worthy subject.

It is. Check the link in the OP: it's apparently going to be shown in [some?] Hoyts cinemas.

Yay!

I am looking forward to this film in ways that are probably considered unhealthy by The State of California.

The plot of Iron Sky 2:

Captain, I am detecting a temporal disturbance!

Apparently during the Moon Invasion of the Nazi Remnant several ships managed to escape and establish a colony on Antares 5, a distant, yet unexplored planet! They have discovered Warp technology, and consequently, Time Warp ability! They have sent an army back to the time of the Moon Invasion of the 21st century and took over the Earth... It is now a Nationalistic military state planet, with a military force so powerful nobody could stop them! The entire Alpha Sector of the Galaxy is under their control!

My god, we must stop them! Set course for the 21st century! ENGAGE!

Just don't surrender again, Frenchie.
