Is Diablo 3 the worst game ever in terms of price vs. quality?

You are correct Draech,

But the work was stopped after WoW became the success it is.

Remember Starcraft Ghost ?

There was a warcraft in the works too, but it died earlier than Ghost.

Blizzard cancelled the Warcraft RTS and then Starcraft Ghost went in 2005.

Why cause they knew the gravy train had arrived.

And yes I was a WoW player and had a great time, but age has made me more cynical (well a bit more cynical than I was).

If anyone believes that Diablo and Starcraft had been cancelled in their entirity for WoW then you are deluded.

Remember you never put all your eggs in one basket.

I have to agree with Snowplow in a way, it looks like a game which has been ported from the Xbox in its early days. I play it on 1900x1200 res with everything turned to 11 and it does not stutter. But then with the graphics it has it shouldn't.

I think the work for the port has already been done, they are just waiting for an acceptable period before unleashing it onto the console market.

A market which is a hell of lot less forgiving than the PC market.

Obviously blinded blizzard drone you are enjoy your world of Warcraft inspired diablo game. Ill be playing my myth 2 tournament that's lasted 12 years, 10 years which has been run from external fans servers not by bungie. Diablo 3 will be lucky if it lasts 12 months before the next blockbuster pc release.
I may have had something to say about the skill limit and how it was needed to reflect the shift in design philosophy while still making diablo 3 a game about choice instead of getting everything you need all the time.

But apparently all you're here for is hyperbole and slander, so there's no reason to bother. When you get called out for being factually wrong and lying through your teeth, you resort to insults and accusations. You are everything that is wrong with internet communities and I hope I meet as few people like you as possible.

I'm not even a Blizzard fanboi. But apparently if I don't spew metric tons of bullshit through my mouth I'm not qualified to be anything else.
Slander? You attacked my credibility about my play through in diablo, consistently calling me a liar about the ridiculously similar skills in diablo 3. I even provided you with more than 6 skills for a class used in diablo 2 and constantly say I dont know what I am talking about.
You are a hypocrite so don't sell your paltry justification about blaming internet communities for having a different viewpoint. From what I hear anyway the lowest scum play blizzard games anyway. Not you or the majority of blizz players even though your pretty low. We dont hear about any other "apparent" AAA games other than blizzard with massive hacking in accounts, real life suicides and real money auctions like a gambling addicts at casino's.

Of course that might just be because WoW has more players than said AAA games and therefor has more incidents due to sheer statistics (and said incidents are more reported because WoW is one of those 'media games' like GTA that gets blamed for everything, since I doubt you average newsperson knows about any other MMO.)

But hey logic is hard (and fighting TEH COPORATIONS is about feeling not thinking anyway), far easier to just call Blizzard players scum and nostalgia over a 12 year old game filled with tedious bullshit that was garbage when it was new* right?

*Diablo II, not Myth II (although that wasn't entirely perfect either)

I got it free with a year's WoW subscription, so I can't comment on price very well.

But for what it's worth, it's not a particularly good game. Combat is boring and repetitive. Graphics are pretty bad. Getting lag issues in a single player game is unacceptable. And the game's filled with random instant death enemies that can't be avoided. I haven't beaten the final boss yet, but have no drive to do so because it's just a series of instant death attacks.

I have a level 45 hardcore character in Inferno Barbarian ok, and a wizard level 20.
Gee, now you're straight-out lying since the minimum level for Inferno is 60. And even if you finished Hell at level 45 (congratulations, you skipped about half the game) you still haven't gotten to the actual difficulty yet.
So you haven't reached level 60 yet, haven't even seen all the rune combinations for one class, yet you can talk. Your credentials are officially down the drain.

I said on a consistent basis. I can put 1 point in every ability too and argue that they "have their uses".
And even so, using more than 6 abilities was hardly prominent in D2. Limiting the active number to 6 is hardly a loss if you design things right.

Monk Gets the Kick, Barbarian gets the Cleave, and Wizard gets the Arcane Orb. All of which act the same.
You mean a short-range knockback cone aoe attack is the same as a ranged projectile aoe with no knockback. Which is also the same as a melee-ranged cone attack with no knockback and no resource cost - rather, resource generation. Okay then, whirlwind is the same as frozen orb, which is reused alongside meteor in the assassin's elemental combo, corpse explosion trap is the same as corpse explosion, zeal has a druid version which is exactly the same, leap is teleport and bone spear is chain lightning. You cannot dismiss what I said without also dismissing what you said yourself. Go ahead and try contradicting yourself though.

You tell me I am full of it but my evidence is stacked against you , what evidence do you have to suggest otherwise?
Your evidence seems to be stacked against you. When the other is digging his own hole, things are pretty easy for me.
oh inferno I meant hell, forgot there are now 4 stages of useless game play. I tend to forget because I dont play it any-more since it became so repetitive.

edit; you really are the biggest blizzard fan boy/girl ever. Enjoy your piece of crap game. Taken 12 years to make and my favourite game Myth II would make even solitaire more advanced in game play than this.

kiyoshi6439# is my login so if you want to be bothered checking but ive played enough to know its boring enough for me and gave my account to my 12 year old cousin.

By the way you completely ignored my argument about the versatility of skills. I said that you do not change skills in battle like in diablo 2, you stick with a few strong skills that are questionably "interchangeable" for usefulness. I highly doubt when fighting a pack of blue monsters you have to change your skills in the heat of battle for every situation, its just not plausible. I never ever said anything about the skills being the same between either game, I said the skills between each class are the same.

Still lying eh, bub? Minimum level for hell is 50. Why don't you just admit that you're a hater?

Worst for price vs quality? Easy! That would be Action 52 for the NES. $200 for the game (came out in 1991 so 200 bucks is a shitload). The game was completely horrible

I don't think it's the worst game per se, but it is a pretty terrible game. Definitely a let-down, especially considering how long it was in development, and how much of it has switched gears late in the development, or was cut to meet a deadline.

It feels like a "rushed" game, with so many half-finished and untested parts of it, as well as the lack of polish of basic things, and the clumsy feel to the games UI as a whole.

Worth $60? Not by a long-shot. It should have sat in development for another year until it was actually good, and finished. Go Blizzard and their mantra of "When it's done."...

But were those games expected to be good games? I mean Diablo 3 was supposed to be one of the best games of the year, but rather it sucks big time!
See, that's the one thing that bothers me about forums. Diablo III doesn't unilaterally "suck big time". Rather, you've come to think it does. Which is fine. You had different expectations and wanted different things out of the game.

Personally, as someone who doesn't have two shits to give about either Auction House and the Inferno difficulty, D3 is an enjoyable romp through old Pavlovian reflexes I hadn't exercised in years. It's weird how grinding annoys me in MMOs, and yet it feels perfectly natural and enjoyable in a hack-and-slash.

So no, D3 isn't the Worst Game Ever - at least, by my humble reckoning. The award for Worst Game Ever goes to Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing. *Any* price is too high for that wretched piece of fecal matter.

I would say the collector's edition of Star Wars The Old republic! Spent £120 on it & it really wasn't worth the money! treid to sell the Darth Malgus statue on ebay but some people can't even get rid of them at £20! The in game content is a joke as the 'exclusive' V.I.P section where you can get special gear only had a imperial agent (this was during the first few months of the game I don't know what its like now as I can't afford to play it). Not to mention you could access the area if you had a million credits!

Compelte & utter waste of money & its the first collector's edition that I've ever regret buying and every time I see it it just reminds me of what I could have got with that money!

On a side note Diablo III is priced WAY to high for a game!

I may just be an innocent bystander but right now I feel that Blizzard is acting all nuts.

Making a game that requires constant connection to their servers, over-hyping it to get as many sales as possible and then act all surprised that their servers can't handle thousands of connections at once.

To quote James Rolfe: "What were they thinking!!!!11!one".

Like some others, I opened this thread to mention Action 52. No joke, 199 US dollars (when it was new) for this broken PoS:

Then again, if you own the cartridge, at least it's still playable. With Diablo 3, once they stop running the servers, your copy of the game is useless (unless someone runs a pirate server for it).

Thanks for everyones comments. I may or may not agree with them. I do however believe that a single player experience with a latency bar makes the game a complete failure. Besides that, the game does not live up to D2, which was much more addictive and fun. D3 seems boring, all the changes that involve online bs (level generator, drop codes, auction house etc.) makes the experience less appealing because of all the red tape before playing.

Let's just say that games that have cost me much less have given me 30-50 hours of fun before I got bored with them, this one gave about 5 hours of actual game time and 30 hours of bS.
