The trend will rise in polarity with the general public but in a few years it will fall in popularity. Mark my words, the so called public is fickle and drops things VERY quickly.

As for us gamers, we are in it for the long haul.

In short, screw the public and their casual gaming.
That's exactly how I feel on this subject.

Let them think they're gamers, let them lie to all of them so they'll become popular fucks. In the end the real gamers will just trample over them, and not give it up when the trend starts to die.

Like Axia said, We're in the for the long run.

Playing video games may be a trend, but I don't think being a gamer is quite yet enough of a trend where people will start wearing rubber armbands that say "I'm a gamer" on them. And the majority of folks have played a video game, if not a couple. I mean, even my Granddad has played one or two, and he's 81!

I was talking more about the hipsters who proclaim they are game fanatics, yet have obviously played one once in their whole life, but now pretend to game because it is fashionable.
Ah, right. However, I see this as the natural progression of gaming; it's part of coming into the limelight. We normal gamers (regardless of what you play, as long as you play) will have to deal with these 'posers'. Generally, it means that if I say something about a popular game (like, say, Call of Duty 4), then they know what I'm talking about. It's both a blessing and a curse.
