I was talking to my roomy the other day and he told me it was hard to beleive I am a .hack// fan, so out of curiosity I ask him why. He says it is the other things I like and do.
I am an 80's Metal fan, I enjoy saying "thats what she said" when the time calls for it, I hate all other japanese anime, and I like American Football (NFL). He says that anyone with these qualities cannot be a .hack// fan.

So I ask you this, is it hard to beleive I am a .hack// fan. (I want to prove my room mate wrong)

I haven't seen .hack// to know what the correlation is but surely, enjoying an anime is independent of your hobbies and pastimes isn't it?.

I don't see how liking metal, NFL, that's what she said jokes etc, has any bearing on your entertainment choices. We like what we like simply because we like the things we like. It's irrational at times. There clearly is something about that anime that appeals to you and that's irrelevant to external reasoning.

Well my roomy is an idiot, he smokes pot a lot so, yea. This one time when I was out taking an exam, he got high and tried to shove slices of salami in our DVD player, needless to say I made him buy a new one.

That depends, what in the heck is a .hack// fan?
Logical answer: Someone who likes the anime .hack//.

Illogical answer : Someone who is a fan of Mexican horticulture.

It's not that hard to believe, people just like to box others off into convenient little categories.

People like this give pot-smokers a bad name by being total light-weights! (Your roomy not you.)

Well, I like metal and puppies, don't see the correlation.

On the anime side, I was a pretty heavy anime fan a few years ago WHILST still listening heavily to metal. In fact, if you youtube it, you'll probably find tons of heavy metal montages on .hack, and anime/heavy metal montages tend to be awesome.

SO!

It doesn't really matter, you can like anything you want.

Otherwise you're very limited, when there's lots out there to see.

Considering most posts you make seem to be about .hack I find it impossible to not think you're a fanboy.

It wouldn't be too hard to jump to that conclusion.

I would find it hard to believe because you hate most anime, but .hack is not what I'd even consider a good anime. You have to be extremely patient and forgiving of that series to slog through any of the animes/games/mangas plots. The one anime you like is one of the ones that most anime fans gave a universal "meh" rating to. Which is a shame really. I love the concept of .hack, but I've never seen it executed well. Though I guess the .hack Liminatility dvds that came with the first games were interesting.

I mean, really? .Hack over Cowboy Bebop? Black Lagoon? That's what I think is hard to believe.

Lol, and yet, as I say this, I've played all four of first game series (and by play, I mean did ever single side quest and what not), watched a good chunk of .hack//sign, and am in the middle of the .hack//G.U. series. So I must like .hack in some capacity. Or I just like punishing myself.

Why do people think that people can't be multi-dimensional? I'm always annoyed by peoples' reactions when they hear I like weapons and show a keen interest in them, and it's always the same "You can't like guns, blah blah blah we've all heard this before"
