Is it worth getting Alpha Protocol now that all the bugs are fixed?

I put the game down and sold it the day after I bought it because it crashed an untold number of times, but is it a good game now that the bugs are gone?

I just started playing it yesterday, its actually alot of fun, ive still run into a few glitches here and there but one you get used to how the skills work its really good. Having said that im still in the first few missions so im not that experienced with it. But so far i recommend it.

I've been having a lot of fun with it, on the PC at least.

It is very much the (original) Deus Ex or Mass Effect style of RPG-shooter by which aiming will be more determined by your character skills and patience more than your actual aiming skill, but playing it Metal Gear Solid-style stealthing around is a blast for me personally and the conversation system is pretty fantastic, though the main character does tend toward being a dick.

Apart from minor ragdoll physics glitches (I've seen one NPC get stuck in a door as I took him down and another had his whole body get stretched and distorted) I've yet to see any serious bugs about six hours into the game.

I can't speak for how stable the console versions are, however.

I can! :D

I played Alpha Protocol years ago on my 360 (so before all these bug fixes) and I thought it was one of the better games to come out of this generation. If they've gone and fixed the bugs (which I can't confirm, the game is being borrowed out right now for other people need to experience the awesome), I would strongly strongly strongly recommend the game.

I liked it, quite a lot. Especially in that there's no "wrong" playstyle, and you'll get perks and bonuses no matter what you do, just different ones. Sometimes you'll have to piss people off to make them respect you. Sometimes you'll have to decide who to let die.

But remember, Steven's one Heck of a guy. Just never, ever, under any circumstances call him "Steve".

The gameplay is a bit dated, but if you're looking for a game that's more based on your choices rather than killing everything in sight(which you can do if you wish), then Alpha Protocol is right for you.

For all of the praise that games like The Walking Dead and Mass Effect get for letting the player choose, they both pale in comparison to AP. It's one of the few games where decisions can change the game for more than a few cutscenes.

I'd say it's worth it. I got for the 360 years ago. It's not too long, the conversation mechanics are great. It is probably a little dated now, but it handles player choice exceptionally. Don't want to buy all the available intel that's fine but be prepared for some surprises. Put all your points into pistols then try and use a shotgun and you're going to suffer.

I think the Zero Punctuation episode sums up my only real issue with the game which was being stuck in a boss fight which required a gun fight when I was a martial arts pro...

The new game plus mode (veteran) is a lot of fun and they add new conversation options for the conversations

And it is impossible to be a nice guy in this game. Mikey really is a jerk
