Yes, but be warned. The hacking security and bug fixing is nowhere near as good as on the PC version. You are going to have to deal with lots of Livetards wrecking games, but it's still very much worth it.
I think so, I have only bought it recently, but having seen my boyfriend playing it a couple of weeks ago I knew I had to get it. There's a lot of problems with people playing on Versus, as playing as the survivors isn't everyone's cup of tea and they tend to leave early. But they have some DLC, free I might add, coming out towards the end of the month, so it's well worth going for 
I'd say so. Especially with the free DLC coming out soon that will add a whole new layer of gameplay.
If you have friends that play this game, then god yes get this game.
If you don't then it's iffy, if any of your friends plan on getting it then do it, if not and you'll be stuck playing with randomers, that more often than not you'll either get gits that can't play properly, or the real assholes that just kick you straight away from a public game.

Is it worth getting? Can a dog look up? Well some say no but I would say that yes dogs can in fact look up.
I would say Left 4 Dead is only worth renting. While it's pretty interesting, playing it by yourself can give you only so much entertainment. It's a game that is much more fun playing with other people, HOWEVER playing online means you'll always be encountering some jerk who just wants to mess with all the other players instead of playing the actual game. So online is not guaranteed to be fun. It is alot more rewarding playing the game with people you know personally and are in the same room as you. I think that is going to be the most fun you'll have with the game, but keep in mind that your buddies aren't always going to be around and will probably not have anyone to play with for certain time frames.
To summarize what I just said:
Solo: rather plain and dull and does not utilize the full potential.
Online: not always guaranteed decent players who play by the rules.
With Friends: the most entertaining but limiting on how often you are with friends who play that game or video games in general
