Is Moviebob just trolling for hits?

It seems the guy gets worse with every video. He complains about the PS4 reveal as they didn't show enough of the console yet they gave much more info and showed more games than the WiiU reveal. Oh but if course Nintendo gets a free pass since Bob grew up with them. He complains that the system might block used games even though that rumor was shot down a long time ago. He complains that they spent way too much timing talking about the specs, even though that's the one of the things people wanted the most. Hard, concrete info on the technical aspects. One of the biggest complaints about the WiiU reveal was that nobody knew how powerful it was going to be.

But of course 90% of the video was spent going on and on about backwards compatibility. For a guy who doesn't even own a PS3, he sure is pretty desperate for backwards compatibility. If it was such a big deal about "preserving" the whole Sony library then he should have bought a PS3 when it came out. Apparently money isn't an issue. Nobody bought the system when it came out because it was too expensive. By cutting BC, they reduced the price and way more people bought it. Speak with your wallet, not you mouth. Hey Bob, go buy a first gen PS3. Now you can play PS1, PS2, and PS3 games on it. Plus if you buy a PS4 you can play those games too. Now you have the entire system library with only two systems! Whatever, I don't have a doubt in my mind that Bob would have hated the reveal no matter how great it was.

Is he making too big a deal over BC? Or is this a massive issue that's going to tank the system?

Bob's not very good at talking about games, but at the same time I don't like that everyone just ignores the whole preservation issue. We did the same thing with movies and now 90% of early film is lost to us, we put all of our books in one library and then someone burnt it down... we're pretty crap at this actually...

Opinions are just that. Using your example, he has a soft spot for Nintendo cos he grew up with them, so of course he is going to be forgiving to them and gloss over issues. He may pick on Sony for personal reasons.

We are all guilty of being hypocrites, having conflicting opinions and so on but that doesn't mean we're all trolls.

He is just a guy doing his job, which is telling people what he thinks.

Nintendo fanboyism is just something Bob does. You'll either get used to it or get sick of it.

Although if you're getting that agitated about criticism of the PS4, I'd say you're in no position to cast the first stone.

Fusioncode9, I am frankly much more inclined to consider you a troll than I am Mr. Chipman, based solely on the existence of this thread. "Is MovieBob a troll" is a useless question if you ask it hoping for information, because no one could speak to his motivations with any authority, and I think you know that; therefore, I have to assume the purpose of your question is to skim the waters for people who agree with your point of view, so you can all congratulate each other on being smart enough to dislike him and to stand as a unified front against anyone who would argue against you.

It is possible your observations have merit. I wouldn't know. I have no interest in the PS4, and cannot be bothered to watch a video talking about it as a console. Unfortunately, the legitimacy of your observations is completely occluded by the obvious, hostile bias you have against him.

MovieBob's first bunch of GameOverThinker videos were pretty good.

However, the quality of the videos hit the shitter when he introduced the "Anti-Thinker" character.
And, I was officially done with the show when he addressed such criticism with the execution of his "straw-man".

As there is a very strictly enforced forum rule on not outright calling someone a troll, I will not say the OP is a troll, but it does seem rather biased in exactly the way that it claims Moviebob is.

I don't think MB is 'trolling' but I think he is personally biased, like all of us. I agree with some things he said (but certainly not all of it) and wish that console reveals were actual gameplay demos and a spec sheet only. Entice us with the games, not the numbers.

Agreed. I tend to enjoy Bob's critiques on "nerd culture" and the like, but he's way out of his depth when he tries to tackle video games. As such, I skip his game-themed stuff.

So whenever he posts something videogame related that's not Nintendo, you should already know how it's going to end up and have only yourself to blame for watching it.

The mods don't take very kindly to users calling people "trolls". I'm pretty sure that includes saying he (MovieBob) is "trolling".

OT: He's MovieBob, everything he says on video games is his opinion, which is something he's allowed to have and voice like everyone else. You don't need to listen to him. Why would you do something that bothers you so much?

Oh good. The console wars are starting up again. Because if gaming culture needs anything to look mature, sophisticated, and educated, it's people bickering because someone likes one platform over another.

I know right, I have an internet shelter to avoid the war. Anyone wanting to join me just needs to bring a picture of a kitty doing something funny.

I think backwards compatibility can help a console in the beginning due to its small library of games, so it may. We'll just have to wait and see on that one.
