Which do you believe is more substantial out of the two. Each have their own place in our culture, each have TV shows, their own card games (of course YGO does), video games, and their own abridged series (seen any of the two?).

Basically what I want to know is which of the two franchises the Escapist believes to be the most culturally significant, the largest, the most influential, or downright bestest evarr.

Disclaimer: Not a versus thread, but I wouldn't mind friendly banter

Edit: the fuck happened to the poll? I crafted it well

I'd lean towards Dragon Ball/Z. It inspired numerous manga, anime. Hell, Sonic goes Super Saiyan.

Dragon Ball Z is just one of the biggest animes ever and Dragon Ball is usualy a favourite manga by a lot of mangaka.

Not to mention how many Dragon Ball movies there are, including an unofficial one made in China that was a 1000 times better then the official American one.

YGO its self hasn't had to huge an impact on life, it's deffinately been huge and the card game itself has gone quite far, even outsaling MtG and Pokemon.

But thanks to Konami and 4Kids, YGO has become considered more kids only(wich is quite BS cosidering kids can't properly play the game, atleast not by following the game mechanics, understanding the synnergy and rulings)

I like YGO, but Dragon Ball/Z just wins it for me.

Dragonball is one of the most massive franchises in the history of ever.

Although I love the card game, YGO just can't compete.

Dragon Ball, most definitely.

Anyone play the DBZ card game? I actually had a lot of fun with it when I was younger.

Yugioh is huge, no doubt about it, but DragonBall wins.

We're talking about one of the most influential anime of all time, inspiring the three most popular shows on the air today (Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach), having a ten year headstart on YGO, and introducing anime to so many people in the West. Yeah, YGO has no chance.

[HEADING=2]Speaking of Dragonball...[/HEADING] [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/Team-Three-Star]

But yeah, Dragonball has been seen by children everywhere, at least where I'm from. Less people have seen Yu-gi-oh. Don't know what it is like nowadays on the playground but I remember running around with a gang of seven friends in Elementary school having giant Dragonball Z battles. Also blame Kross. Blame him all the time.

Dragon Ball wins. It's stupidly popular and watched by everyone. A 30 year old and a 6 year old little kid both could have seen the show and relate. Kai has done a wonderful job and getting the little kids hooked once again. Yu-Gi-Oh is popular, but just not as. I'm a fan of both actually ;p. Mostly like Yu-Gi-Oh for the card game though. DBZ's card are impossible to find where I live.

I like both...
Hmmm....Id rather play a yugioh card match over a dbz videogame though.
