Nova Barlow"When people are so far immersed in a story, everything the story touches develops meaning." Nova Barlow gives us a behind-the-scenes look at how players react to events, and shares some of the knowledge she gained while creating them.
It is so great to see you writing and the 'rembering' is even more awesome! That was one terrific event. Those were the good ol' days when UO seers could do amazing things and the events only got better with each one we did. We sure had a blast doing some amazing events back then.
Remember the Ice Chicken indeed! You hit the nail on the head. The events are all about having fun! Whether you're in the position of coordinating the events from an official point of view, or just a player in a player-run event!
Just like the celebrated Dungeon Master who had an entire dungeon planned out just to have the heroes of the gaming party go chasing after a 'mysterious peasant' that wasn't really that mysterious to begin with!
Well done for bringing that concept to the forefront.
I missed that particular event. I did hit some of your other ones. I did like that they were adaptable and we actually had some influence over how things went. As an evil rper, it was nice that we were able to get involved in our own way.
Unlike their actual main storylines where we were just following OSI's script.
Flexibility is key to running any RPG session. There's nothing worse than a GM who won't allow anything "unscripted" to happen. A really good GM will lead the players through a script and let them think they made all the choices. A bad GM will punish the players for behaving independently or creatively.
