Chris Maire"It's almost a tradition, now, to have LAN parties on the same nights as dances, and none of the people in the room regret coming to this one." Chris Maire narrates an event of the Mindrot Gaming Club.

It was nice to see an article by some younger folks with good stories about the grass roots gaming that goes on at schools. The gaming club of our college works hard to get gaming nights every week and even managed to get an xbox 360 with college funds, legally even. Creating a LAN is a difficult thing, but good to see someone maintains the gaming quo at their school for the few people that tend to arrive at them. Good writing in any case, hope to read a bit more like it.

My Junior year at college my friends and I started the college gaming club - in one semester it went from nothing to the largest club on campus, having about twice the membership of the second-biggest.

Great writing. I'm going to a small LAN party tomorrow and you really communicated the whole culture of these things. I'm trying to get a game programming club appended to the school LAN club (which frankly is very poorly organized); it's really amazing what you guys did with yours.

I'm really impressed by the quality of this piece. A perfect casual Friday article, it picks up on the nostalgia of high school for us older gamers, as well as confirming the slow move into the mainstream that we could only have dreamed of 10-15 years ago. The way the article itself is distracted by the entrance of a girl is brilliant.
Please continue to organise LAN parties for your school, your friends and eventually your college and your workplace. And continue to submit your writing online, as I hope to read more from you soon.

I don't know if anyone who wrote any of these comments will see this, but I really wanted to say thank you to everyone who commented on my piece. As I mentioned, I've never submitted any writing to any publication before, and your comments are motivating and very much appreciated.

Thanks again,
Chris Maire
