So dark that sometimes I can't see who's trying to kill me :/
Allow me to elaborate.
I'm playing on the Xbox 360 on a 720p 20-inch TV. (When i visit my parents I play on 30-inch 1080p TV. It even DARKER and more sharp looking on that one.)
Now don't get me wrong. I love the way it looks, but unless I play on my khajiit I have a hard time seeing sometimes. Any ideas on how to help?

You can go into the options screen and increase the brightness. That's what I did.

I'm going to agree with the first two replies here and suggest you make use of the options screen.

Also, learn Candlelight and get a torch.

I hope you're talking about the stupid eye filter and not just the normal brightness.

See, I've never found a use for Candlelight, a torch (Besides flavor), Magelight, or Night Vision. And my brightness is way low.

Kind of disappointing...I was hoping some of the dungeons would be pitch black, yanno? Get ambushed by Falmer or something.

Use Candlelight or Magelight, and torches as suggested.

Also, failing that, or for a bit of immersion, use taverns to roleplay "planning a trip for the morning", which is what I do. Then just use lights in caves etc.

You should see my tv... even with the brightness all up it's still dark has hell!!!

Some tv's are just horrible. Each time i play a game or watch a movie that has night in it, like shadow assassins in the night or something, my tv just wont show it... just white people running from... well... cant see from what...

...Turn the brightness up?
this

honestly compared to quite a few games in the past..skyrim isn't too bad, and the darker parts kind of have to be that way..considering the immense white snow fucking everywhere on mountains? if everything was bright, it'd look like rainbow shit glitter everywhere.

Really? I thought Skyrim was way too light. Even in the middle of the night or in a dark cave, I never need to use magelight or a torch.

Really?

I thought the game was too bright, so I turned the brightness down all the way.
There are still some parts that just seem too bright...

I haven't had a problem with brightness. However, when something shines in my face - like dragon fire, for instance - my screen turns completely black for a second afterwards and then the screen clears up and I can see again. It looks like an effect but I'm not sure if it is - is anyone else having this problem?
It's an effect.

It's suppose to simulate your eyes adjusting to the bright light and back.

^This. And I actually like it. I was fighting a dragon, I was inside a fort, he was outside, blowing gouts of flame through the doors, which I sidestepped. The intensity of the flames gave me that effect too, and I dug it. Very cool.

Like others I also had to turn my brightness down to get better darkness, since I like to actually role-play and use torches and Magelight. Magelight is stupid fun, cuz you can stick it on stuff. ^_^
