It's nice to see the folks at UPenn's GRASP Laboratory [http://www.grasp.upenn.edu/] continuing in their unrelenting quest to give robots the tools they will need to overthrow and enslave their fleshbag masters.

Why would robots want to enslave humans?
Anything a humans can do, robots can do better.

If that's not the case yet, it will be when they are capable of enslaving us.
They'd be better of exterminating us to protect themselves, since it's obvious humans would revolt against their metalic masters.

Well, maybe they can use human bodies as a source of energy, while keeping the human minds busy in a virtual world...

That sounds like a great premise for a movie.

matrix? I mean yes the game choice kinda sucks and you only get 1 life but well guess there has to be a downside.

on a related note I believe the first real world application will be to let them grab a chunk off C4 and drop it on some poor sobs head >.>

Overthrow us? That depends, are they VIs or AIs? If they're VIs we have nothing to worry about so long as we don't make them too smart or we don't program them to kill us all. If they're AIs so long as we don't oppress them, there will be no need for them to overthrow us!

Actually this is really cool, we could use little guys like this to help us build things. Or get bigger versions to do bigger jobs. Onward to the future!

Hug your loved ones, kiss the girl/boy of your dreams, drink a whole load your preferable alcoholic beverage (I'm thinking Baileys crème caramel Irish cream) and pray for a painless death

On a more serious note, this is good. robots can do a lot of things people do, without complaints and they're more precise. I think this is a good step forward. maybe we'll teach a robot to play Kinect/Wii/ Move

All joking aside, I fail to see anything wrong with this at all. I think it's kind of stupid that every time we see an advancement in robotics, people immediatly jump on leftist technophobic fiction about how the machines will try and replace, imprison, or kill us.
Yeah, its technophobic, but how is it leftist?

Off-Topic: Now we have to answer questions for the captcha? This is getting silly.

Hmm learning how to build eh? DONT TRUST THEM!! SOON THEY WILL LEARN TO BUILD COMPLEX STRUCTURES RESULTING IN THE FIRST HUMAN REAPER!!!

Look at them don't they remind you of robotic collector swarms?!

I've often pondered if computers in reality could turn on us.
I guess its possible, but only by telling them to via software.
Oh, and building such depth around the program...in case something fails, it can fall back onto another strategy.

Ergo giving a system logical processing.

Again its possible in theory, but not unless we help it out.
