Jack Thompson, would you kindly stand in front of a speeding freight train?
Cookie to those who get the reference.

You sir should be the one who goes to hell for being such an arrogant prick.
If and when this man gets into a car wreck and dies, no one outside his family will miss him.
From the one and only, Bioshock. One of the games that disproves Thompson's theory that violence in games = bad. In this game, it fits in the theme.

OT: Man, what a way to lose the argument by yourself. This just shows that he doesn't want to convince gamers that violence is bad, he wants to force it down our throats, as he has no respect for what we think.

Seriously, how in any way is the effect of games any different than the effect of movies and books when they reached the point where they could do anything? When movies came, it was so immersive that people rejected the violence, now it's happening to games. I've never had a murderous thought in my life (unless you count OCD-ish thoughts), and I've played video games since I was 2, and my first violent game was when I was 5. 5! I've never tried to hurt anybody, the only thing that is possibly aggressive is that I enjoy death metal. Games doesn't cause insanity, it stops it.

Sigh.

Under state criminal codes, which vary by state, it is an offense to knowingly utter or convey a threat to cause death or bodily harm to any person. It is also an offense to threaten to burn, destroy or damage property or threaten to kill, poison or injure an animal or bird that belongs to a person.

Pretty sure threatening to send someone to Hell counts. Restraining order time.

Hes still alive? - I hoped ended up in a pile of dead hookers, piss and cocaine after he lost his license.

O yea Jacky? Being disbarred and hated accross the world is your idea of winning? Getting EA to change 1 word in their game (even if it was entirely your doing) is another victory in your resume? Good for you! /patonthehead
O and who's culture are you protecting exactly?...Sure as hell isn't mine. That's such an asinine thing to say considering the fact that culture is defined as social practices that are current and constantly evolving. Is there a single person in the world who doesn't think he's a tool? I just wanna slap him.
How old is he anyway? Gonna die anytime soon?

My 2 cents... we, the gamers who will actually be playing this game, should simply ignore the change of name and continue to use Taliban vs USA (I'm assuming it's just american troops, but would be cool if it's British and Canadian too). So basically, the name change doesn't matter. If I get the game, I'll certainly play as Taliban! Screw "Opposing Force" that's BS.

As for Thompson... what a douche!

I'll take that cookie thank you. You Bioshock fan you.

Sad how he doesn't realize that controversy sells. Remember what the controversy did for MW2 sales? That was insane. Everything bad he or anyone else says in the future before the game is released will just spark more controversy, more talk about the game which will somehow result in more sales. Especially if he appears on Fox again. Hell, I'm thinking of buying 2 copies just to prove my point.

And Liam Fox, a prominent british politician, had nothing to do with the removal in any way jack. Sorry, I forgot how influential a washed up lawyer is compared to the british government.

"I win, as usual"? Which case against games has he ever won?!

Also, does this sound more like a (former) lawyer or a 5 year old: "It's as I say and those who think otherwise can go to hell."

Joke's on Jack here, I'm an atheist, I don't think there is a hell, or a heaven, or even a purgatory. Just a corpse in a grave.

But quite frankly Jack... fuck you.

While I didn't really think that the whole "taliban" team was such a great idea, I don't necessarily think it should have been banned. EA could have kept it in if the Medal of Honor series had been known for historical accuracy... or at least self-control. Ah well...

And... seriously Jack... shut the fuck up, I'm pretty sure you had nothing to do with this.

What a wonderful moral authority you are, "You dont agree with me go to hell HURP-A-DURP"

I hope they see what he said and how stupid hes been and change their minds to spite him, I know I would.
