Oh no, who is going to stop me from turning into a car-stealing murderer now?

Oh that's right, ME.

Maybe one of the circuses there will take him in...

That's the beauty of the American constitution, one citizen can use his freedom of speech in order to try and take away someone else's freedom of speech.
Then use it to silence him.
Sadly I'm one of those rare cases who believe everyone should have freedom of speech, even if their views are stupid and their arguments are backed up by lies (Read: Jack Thompson). So for now I'll continue to do what I always did, ignore the bastard, cause I know he isn't going to have any real affect on anything.
Probably shouldn't be allowed to express those views in a court of law, though, right?

Bah, this is far from over.

For every hair cut off another will grow in its place.

Someone-something-will rise up from Thompson's ashes and carry out his legacy.

How I rue the day.

Hopefully Thompson's incarnates will be hit down fast, and they'll come back fast, to turn it into a game of whack a mole :) .

Kinda makes you wonder where Rockstar will get a majority of its advertising now?

That being said, I don't see this being a large inhibition to Jack Thompson's own little world. He'll still crusade, and get the screen time, there's just less he can accomplish legally (like having a restraining order leveled against him by Take Two Entertainment, or leveling legally vague threats against gamers).

Ultimately, I think this is just a Florida-bar-approved observation that the gaming community has been making for years. I'm not sure anything will change, but at least something new will come of it, even if it's just reports about Jack Thompson gate-crashing federal and local cases before being put in various detention centers for disruption.

Ah well, at least he'll probably quiet down for a little while until he figures out how he's going to maintain his lawyerly lifestyle without his lawsuit budget.

Yay!

This makes me very, very, very happy. Bye Thompson, you won't be missed. Hope you have fun in the happy world of minimum-wage jobs!

Why do I feel as though he's been struck down only to become more powerful than we could possibly imagine?

That is a bit of a shame. I do think we need a watchdog to keep the gaming industry sane. Too bad Thompson did went pretty far off the deep end. I wished he would keep on his crusade, albeit toning it down a little. Like I said--more watchful eyes doesn't hurt.

Interesting fact: 25th of september 2007 is the day that Halo 3 came out.

Maybe the 25th of September is a day for gamers to look out for?

You fail at life. The videogame industry never deserves to be attacked for violence or anything other than copyright infringement.

But maybe the industry was kept sane by insulting the shit out of him during working hours.
I know I'd do that.

Yet we all agree that keeping the industry in check is not a good strategy, as it winds up catering the wrath of irresponsible or fundie, yet always retarded parents.
