Starring Riley Freeman from the Boondocks?
Word-for-word, exactly what I thought.

Frankly I'm looking forward to this. Jackie Chan may be in some less-than-stellar movies, but his performances are always entertaining. And hopefully the Will and Jaden have what it takes to clean the stench of Karate Kid 4 off the series.

Personally, the remake looks like garbage. It's just looks so over-done. And Jackie...what happened?
Jackie Chan has a very simple policy. He makes movies in America for money, and makes movies in China that he wants to make.
Oooh. So that's why I enjoy his first movies so much ;d

...Brb, gotta download the Legend of Drunken Master again.

What category would The Forbidden Kingdom fall under?

I was expecting this to suck, a lot. But it turns out this film doesn't seem too bad, nothing I'd run to see, but if I end up watching it I think I could enjoy it.

Chinese, I think. The good category.

To be honest, you can't replace THE Mr. Myagi. But Jackie Chan is the closest thing we have to it.

It'll do reasonably well in Box offices I'm guessing. ALOT of people will hate this film I guarantee it.
My sentiments exactly. yet another instance where a sequel(though I wouldn't count it as a sequel, more of a spin-off type deal) is disliked do t distance from the original. And Jackie, when r u gonna start kicking ass without having to take care of children or a barely competent female actor???

oh and whats the deal with adding a "the" to a title and christening it a new movie?

I didn't even like the first one, so I guess another one won't do any good for me.
Then again, one of the main reasons for me not liking the first one is because it was very badly dubbed here in Brazil, so maybe if I try it "subtitled" the result will be better.

*cries* Karate kid one and two. That's all we need. Now hollywood is just scrapping for ideas and remaking this classic.

(Oh that's okay Bob-san. Wipe the tears. Wipe left...wipe right)

Since he's will's kid he's automatically a great actor? The kid doesn't even need to get a job and he's already an A-list actor. Maybe I just hate kid actors, I'll shut up now.
Not a great actor, but I liked him in Pursuit of Happyness well enough.
Yeah but he looks to me like another 'Romeo' kid and I don't want that. Also what 5 year old that doesn't have ADD couldn't fulfill that role?

Well the original Karate Kid movie was pretty terrible, maybe this will be better. Jackie Chan is always fun.

Can't 80's nostaligia remakes die with the Noughties (and its biggest stars)?
I'm sure that I'm not the only one who noticed:
1) Jackie Chan's Chinese 'Miyagi' told a young boy "Jacket Off" rather than "Wax Off". Hardy har har.
2)had the boy training shirtless.
That would have raised some red flags if Hillary Swank were in that role!

That aside, it might be interesting to see Jackie Chan finally get his chance to play the wise old teacher role rather than the bumbling student.

Every time there is a sequel it's almost ALWAYS worse than the first in most people eyes.

With few exceptions of like Terminator 2, Starwars 2 and possible 3. Not episode 1,2 and 3. Back to the Future sequels.

Maybe some more.

As for this movie, well it looks ok, I never really cared for the Karate kid movies because I didn't see it.
Still I was kinda surprised on how old Jackie looked.

As for the kid, well I haven't seen any of his other movies so I wouldn't know but he does sound decent.

I also still like Will Smith movies. :D Like Hancock. That was awesome.
