I was pointed to an an article [http://plangent.underhanded.org/2006/01/xbox-360-returns-in-japan.html] posted over on the Kotaku yesterday.

We noticed the original Kotaku post earlier at the office, and had a brief discussion on the merits of trying to pick up an outcast and unwanted Xbox 360 from the other side of the globe on the cheap. They are afterall behind the lines of Sony-land over there, fighting the console wars in the very trenches, right? After reading the translations of the actual signs posted, it seems some aspects may not be as bad as we hop... err... wait no... I'm going out to buy my 360 right now. Yessir, right here on American Soil!

I'm optimistic MS will eventually find the console wars too costly, largely thanks to Japan.

If the 360 does as abysmally in Japan as the original xbox I highly doubt that MS will be able to afford to keep up with Nintendo and Sony. They've already lost $4 billion on the xbox, I doubt they can do that again with the 360.
