The Japanese making fun of white people is nothing new, hell look at Pepsiman, if you can find it that is. Whatever, xenophobia's like crack to them anyway.

Why would any self-respecting white person communicate in katakana? Everybody knows that shouting in English at non-english speakers gets the message across.

Why not? It works for the day laborers.

I shout "BUILD ME A DECK!" or "RESHINGLE MY ROOF!" and bam, it's done.

Wait so if Japan makes a commercial depicting an offensive Caucasian stereotype everyone says it?s just a harmless joke, but when someone over here makes an offensive joke referring to a minority or anyone who was once part of an oppressed group of people they get slammed, am I the only one who sees a problem with this?

Don't get me wrong, I think it's fine as long as there are no bad intentions, I'm just trying to point out that there are double standards that sometimes hide behind other double standards
I was about to write something similar. Whilst I don't find this ad offensive, I'll bet if we made an ad about a Japanese person struggling with English, that went everywhere, even in the shower holding their camera, and was only 3.5ft tall, advertising noodles, there would be hell to pay from the PC brigade.

I can see why they'd be upset. Anyone remember how Taco Bell got sued for the Chihuahua, with some people claiming that it was a racist stereotype? If you don't, that's why it disappeared: some Mexicans thought that it was racist. This is just another version of that. If "Yo quiero Taco Bell" had to go in the US, I think it's entirely reasonable that they would make these demands.

Not that I find anything offensive with it, mind you: I just hate the concept of Acceptable Targets. If you can make fun of one group, and use stereotypes of one group, you should be allowed to do so to all groups.
I've got to say that you put your opinion, and mine, very well.
People amaze me, they seem to think that if you aren't Caucasian you can't be a racist.

Racist isn't just a dirty word that applies only to whites. Its time a lot of people woke up and recognized this.

I personally find it funny as hell, and I'm white as can be. Let them have their racist jokes, it only proves their own ignorance.

Whoooohoo go Japan, give Political correctness that rough middle finger!
Honestly this is news, but not in the negative way. I encourage this, as it's pretty much harmless ...AND funny.

(Yes, I'm white before the question needs to be asked)
That was good Japan but he needed lack of glasses and fatter, Faaattterrr!

So Britain can we take the political correctness fork out of our asses one day or is it just going to continue to be the bucket of lame it's been since the Ninties? I imagine you have the same problem US am I right?

It did?

OT: Sure it's politically incorrect, but then again they could be playing mindgames with us to promote their product through controversy. Actually, nevermind. There's no sane reason why McDonald's would ever need to do that.

I don't know, I'm indifferent on the matter.
On one hand, I see a harmless joke; on the other I see subtle...not quite racism, but something annoying.

If it was taken down, that would be cool; but if it stays it's fine :)

You're a credit to your country, I'm sure.

We make jokes about other races every day, it's nice to some mud slung our way for a change.
A mudsling for a mudsling leaves the whole world covered in shit.

Or something.

Maybe, their economy and and stability in terms of infrastructure, GDP, average household income, and industrial productivity seem to show they are not doing so well. Maybe with ol' Castro out of the picture things can start to go up.

You nitwits seem to be forgetting the difference between RACISM and STEREOTYPES.
RACISM is the belief that certain races are Unquestionably SUPRERIOR to others.
STEREOTYPES are stuff like 'old white men love little boys', 'people in mississippi meet their spouses at a family reunion, the white nerd stereotype THAT WE ENFORCE WITH THOSE DARN VERIZON WIRELESS AND GEEK SQUAD COMMERCIALS, Meikin Chaineese mahn tawk bewwrhy fahni. These are stereotypes tied to specific groups, not an entire race. Really we perpetrate that white nerd stereotype so much its not surprisib-ng someone else did and thought we wouldn't mind.
[sarcasm]BUT IM black so what do I know, Im just good at basketball, rap, and plowing thru white women in mah spare time. [/sarcasm]

well, i can see where this would come from, considering that i stumble with my very broken japanese every time i go out, and i know many others who do the same (if not worse). But they never seem to mind too much. While i may not dress like that, i get it, coming to a country you can't speak the language or understand the culture annoys them, or they think it's hilarious. But it's still nowhere near as bad as their opinion of black people... seriously, look at any anime with one in it, and tell me it's not rascist.
