And how is this different than how people are portrayed in American commercials? Seriously, now! Frankly I find this quite hilarious.

It is about time someone stood up for caucasians. For far too long we have lived under the white man's heel of oppression.
Wait, what? So you say whites live under their own heel of oppression? Seems an awkward way to try to get around, walking on your own head.
But white people do/have oppressed other white people. Guess it happens in Europe where race and ethnicity don't actually mean the same thing. I'm an Iron Curtain immigrant that lives in the US thanks to political asylum and our Russian saviors.

Okay, my only experience in Japan is living here as a member of the armed forces stationed here, but the Japanese aren't quite as Xenophobic as you think. The elderly might be, but the younger generations who probably actually eat and work at McDonalds aren't.

If you ask me the concept of a person speaking very broken japanese when he's a tourist in the country is alot better than the reality, where most of us barely know our basic courtesies. From what I see the japanese actually find it as endearing to see someone put forth the effort to speak japanese as americans do with english.

Sounds like an overreaction. People make fun of Japanese stereotypes in America, too. Just shows balance.
It shows the integration of racial stereotypes into the japanese psyche because this isn't just some jab made by a comedian, but the ad campaign of a mutli-national corperation, carefully crafted to resonate deeply enough with it's viewers that it compells them to be consumers.

Regardless of how you try to feably excuse it, it's exploitive racism. You'd think that by now people would have caught onto the idea that all men are created equal, and all that, but apparently the world still has a long way to go until it can release the ignorant stereotypes that popular culture sustains through this kind of shit.

Perfect example of what is known as 'looking in it too much'. It's like when people were taking offense to the black enemies in RE5. Once you really think about it, it's not really offensive. It's just the Japanese trying to be cute again, is all.

plus their is all sorts of weird shit in japan
Agreed. Racism is only racism when people make such a huge fuss over it.

If everyone in the world could make jokes about any group of people then racism would not exist. All these boundaries as to what's racism and what isn't only makes things worse.

And I'm going to stop speaking now as this is one HELL of a touchy subject.

Hmmm

Do I feel angry? Nope
Do I feel insulted? Nope
Do I care about it? Nope (Well I still wanna post in the thread sharing my useless opinion)
Do I like burgers? Yes but it gotta be grilled under a real fire. With pepper and salt on.

They can call white people whatever they want. But it won't matter to me. They did after all made fun of their own people trying to count in English.

It's ads like these that spark fascist ideologies that brainwash people into ignorant hate. Shut the ad down already and sue the producers for trillions.

What's so hateful about this ad? :/ They are just making fun of white tourist. Not like they say "DEATH TO ALL WHITE TOURIST!"

But I honestly can't say if you are being sarcastic or not.

I can see how the uproar would make sense over the Ching-hong Chinaman, but I just think Mr. James is an adorable joke and I'm not sure why the discrepancy.
It's called a double standard.
Either it's free game for any group of people, or no-one can do it.
Exactly. Whether we deserve it or not isn't the issue, it's the principle that no one should have stereotypes thrown about making them look stupid. I'm equally irritated by Ching-Chong Chinaman and the Japanese all being perverts who like tentacle monsters and schoolgirls as I am by this stereotype of white people being stupid and ignorant.

I think after all the shit white people have said and done about other races, they're allowed to take a pop at us now and again.
I mean is anyone actually offended by this or are they just being offended for the sake of being offended?
Well to start with yuor first half there... You should try reading up on what the Japanese did to the first few waves of foreign sailors to port at their cities before you go blaming whites for everything racist. Yuo can also blame the blacks for slavery of blacks, seeing as most slaves whites used that were black were barted for from african villages. Or you can also look that asian slaves were enslaved by their own people and sold, or that the Tibetins still sell young girls into bondage to this day. But hey.. that would actually be researching the roots of slavery instead of just going by what the majority have watered slavery down to
Oh I know other races are capable of cruelty to each other, don't worry. But yeah there's no entitlement just because one race is more known by what they've done then others.
Either way, this commercial is just silly and compared to some of the stuff in Anime, is pretty harmless.

I was in Japan a week ago and I saw some of these commercials and it really didn't seem racist to me at all.
