"Now you see a brother driving and hes like 'doo doo doo, doo doo de doo, doo doo dee'. Now you see a white guy driving and hes like 'dudu duu dududu dee'."

"haha! Its true, its true! We are so lame!"

But err yeah. The Japanese aren't known for their love of foreigners.

I agree, but French and Russians? I think Mexicans and other Hispanics are treated a lot worse. I am white, and would like some more white jokes to tell my friends. Yeah, there is a shockingly few amount.

This is what you call "knowing your market". The Japanese are xenophobic, racist people, but they have an odd fascination/love of American cultural influences. Combine those two properties and what do you get? Brilliant advertising for the market. They teach you this stuff in Marketing 101.

Here's an example of a similarly racist ad here in Canada, which was eventually pulled. You just can't make fun of people from another place, or it's racism.

Sort of funny and expected, really. I don't see why anyone should be offended by it, but then again, it sort of makes a double standard... If someone will make a commercial making fun of black people, there will most likely be drama.

So it's either everyone is equally eligible to laugh at each others' stereotypes or nobody can.
But if that ad with black people was made in Japan, no one there would give a damn. But most likely stupid foreigners like us would, like people apparently think this white guy ad is racist.

God people need to learn to laugh at themselves, I laugh at my self everday =D
i totally agree, but as we all know, in today's society, there are always those people who seem like they have no sense of humor unless the joke is on someone else. i can bet that there are about 5 japanese people complaining about this and the other 99% are all white. how many times has the usa made fun of other cultures. look at Family Guy! the #1 cartoon on american airwaves and they make fun of any and all races.

just shows that people need to learn more how to laugh at themselves than just at others.

Hm... WTB Translation. It might sound odd but I wonder how hard it would be to translate this promotion into English so we can laugh at our own stereotype.

(I mean, as long as people can differentiate reality from stereotype what is there to worry about?)

I'm not offended by this. Generally, the only people to get offended by things like this are either hypersensitive of self-righteous...

...but, I find myself shocked that MORE people aren't offended like this. It's an advertising campaign literally centered around someone called, roughly, 'stupid foreigner'. If you were to put this ad in American and replace the white person with any ethnic minority, it...well, it probably wouldn't make it to air anyway. But if it did, people would be pissed.

I'm sure this is a much bigger deal in Japan, where caucasian foreigners ARE considered an ethnic minority. So, I gotta ask...if the color of this person's skin was changed, would YOU be offended? If so, wouldn't that be hypocritical?

Doesn't really offend me either way...but I think this leaves something to think about.

Hahaha, this is great. Now they can finally get back for all those horrible Asian sterotypes that are in American movies.

Ah racism, it's good to see you finally came to give white people a chance to complain, hey, maybe it'll catch on!
