Such a shame, I might take a look at 3D porn, but it is going to have the awful pixellating on the genitalia that all japanese porn has, or so I heard.

Porn makes the technology decisions. Porn chose VHS over Betamax when Sony wouldn't co-operate. Porn initially chose HD-DVD because again, Sony didn't want to cater to adult films. Sony remembered how much money VHS made in the 80's and agreed to co-operate. Now Porn uses Blu-ray.

Porn leads the way people!

This revelation brought to you by a guy who thinks talking about sex is ok, who's currently trapped in the American bible belt. :D

Eh... I'll stick with my normal 2D tv set, I'm getting so sick of this bloody 3D craze. Let me know when they had stuff like from Star Wars or Trek in terms of 3D and then I'll be interested. Right now I'd have to wear a pair of those bloody glasses to make it work.

Suggested slogans:

So realistic, you'll have to towel off afterward!

Cumming at you! In 3D!

It's like walking right into your roommate's dick!

Contrary to the indignant and condescending attitude of a few posters here (not everyone wants the hassle of a relationship for sex and considering the money and effort needed to pick up women in clubs or even hire prostitutes, paying for an expensive tv isn't such a bad investment for sex fanatics), i can see the value of 3d porn for those interested.

Basically instead of being subjected to a single camera angle for any given position, you can move around and get the angle you want to see. At least when they push 3d technology to its logical limit.
Atm i still see it more as a gimmick then anything, the immersion might help with the experience for some, and from my experience, avid sex fanatics tend to be in high income but stressful jobs so such a pricey purchase wouldn't be so pricey in their eyes, they already spend more on illicit substances and temporary thrills.

I didn't realise porn was such a powerful force.

Also do they not have actual sex where their from? :S
Japan's birthrate has been steadily decreasing for the past 30 odd years. This may point to the answer.

I'm pretty sure that has something to do with export regulations - I haven't a clue why the hell that would be the case (considering the intended purpose of the materials, pixellating out genitals feels counterproductive), but that's what I've heard anyways. So in other words, if you were Japanese, no it wouldn't - they pixellate things prior to selling them to us.

Frankly I find it more surprising that Japanese porn gets sold on the international market to begin with, considering it does have that weird censoring and the bit where it's invariably super creepy[footnote]No, I do not know this from first-hand experience, I have Something Awful's articles on the horrors of pornography to thank for that oh so wholesome knowledge.[/footnote].

Like it says in "The Dilbert Future" all scientific and technological enhancements are a result of wanting to have sex. This is the driving factor behind the development of "Holodecks". Peaceful streams and historical literary recreations my ass. We all know what the crew of the Enterprise are up to in there.

The whole pixellating business is due to a law against distributing obscene materials. Since there isn't a concrete definition of obscene, I'm sure not all Japanese porn producers do it, but it is widespread enough most of the I-I mean the social degenerates with whom I share only passing acquaintance with have not seen live action Japanese porn without the pixellation.

Grab your [Sic] and double click for porn, porn, porn!

Another thing ... are they gonna put TV protectors on these things? Cause I can see how that might be a mess some people might not be able to explain.

This is the part where I shamelessly admit that Yuma Asami is my favorite Japanese Porn Star...

Just going to say it:

"It's like it's cumming right at me."

I'm sorry, that was crass, but it needed to be said.

Huh, that's cool and all but I get 3D porn for free from my boyfriend.

I don't really know what to think about this. On the one hand, I think most Americans get their porn from the Internet now so they wouldn't really need the 3D TV for it. On the other hand, I think that many, if not most of them, would be interested enough in seeing 3D boobs on a big screen to actually go out and buy one.

My only question is whether or not the TV makes everything look 3D, because things that aren't originally made for 3D look bad when forced into it.
