If I was him, I would get married in that.

Then when I die, I would demand to be dressed as that. The funeral home would look like a space ship and my coffin like a cryo tube.

Great story, also love the title of the original article: Master Grief.

I recommend reading the original article, it's quite touching. Also goes in a bit about why people cosplay, very good read.

This part makes me wonder though:
There are few sentences in the English language that can be as painful as the phrase ?I?ve met someone else.? Here are a few of them:
?I?m seeing someone else.?
?I?m in love with someone else.?
?I?m nailing the hell out this tool I met in karate class and while we?ve been driving in my car, you and I have been listening to the terrible mix CD he made me and now you?ll never be able to hear Alkaline Trio without wanting to fucking kill yourself.?
Is that last one just him being sad and sarcastic or is that what actually happened?

If so, two words: cheating *****.

Sure he bought an awesome suit but the extra armour won't shield his wounded heart.

A suit of Master Chief armor would have been a better investment in the first place. What a fucking awful, sexist, materialistic and straight-up stupid tradition engagement rings are.

Damn lucky guy if you ask me,

My ex, "the *****" as I so affectionately refer, took hers with her. That is to say I found a copy of the sales receipt on the counter when I came home and she wasn't there. Evil scheming no good ...1..2..3 I'm better. It's not like I would have asked for it back after she left but it hurt all the more when I found out she was cheating on me.

I would have bought a really awesome sword personally, a proper tempered and edged one.
That's actually what I did with some of the money I was saving for the wedding, a $5,000 handmade katana, jewel of my collection. In hindsight I probably should have spent it all on a car, but it was just so cathartic to cut up a ton of tatami at that time. I also finished off my student loan payments.

I salute you sir!

Not only did you get yourself back, but your a bachelor with a sweet suit of armor!
Maybe if you go to E3, you can find yourself a Mistress Chief to complement you, and hopefully fight Covenant for life with.

Okay, that's actually pretty cool. So, all in all, a happy ending. Now, if there is an alien invasion, we all know who to call.

Eh.

Ok, apart from the obvious problem of a woman daring to love someone other than the guy who'd bought a ring, not much of a story. Cosplay is hardly new.

I would marry him. But that's just because I have a thing for Master Chief. That's not a very healthy thing to base a marriage on. Awesome stuff right here.

Overall, pretty good call on his part, women come and go, spartan armor is forever...

for serious though, sucks for him, but at least he didn't marry her before "stupid selfish *****" mode turned on, and left him with a divorce and half his shit gone, and now he has awesome cosplay gear, and nobody to *****/nag at him about stupid stuff... win/win/win achieved!

The article doesnt say anything about the woman cheating, so why is everyone jumping to that conclusion without evidence?

This thing happens in relationships, and as much as it hurts it doesnt make someone a cheating *****.

Although his way of getting over a girl is vastly superior to mine. (Listening to sad music and punching walls if you must know)

It occurs to me that it is rather unsurprising that she left the kind of guy who'd blow this much money on something like -that-.
Because that's literally his only quality.

This is any different than a man who blows his money on a sports car, how?
