No, Soul Calibur is Namco-Bandai. Personally, Soul Calibur never bothered me in this respect, since ridiculously designed characters and weapons seems to be the point.Darth_Payn said:Side note: is Team Ninja involved in the Soul Calibur series too? I'm a straight, red-blooded man, but even I find the level of sexualization in those games' women almost insulting and blatantly pandering. Their ads seem to say "BOOBS! Now that we have your attention, buy our game featuring garish costumes on comically unproportioned women and laughably oversized weapons that don't draw a drop of blood! Because unlike SOME Game developers, we're not savages!"Andy of Comix Inc said:These are the kind of issues I'd like to see being dug much deeper into. The Dead or Alive series creeps a lot of people out, but it can't just be the alien breasts. There's something more to it - something sinister - something about the way Team Ninja treats women in their games in general. It's beyond aesthetic, it's beyond fetishization and sexualization, there's something in the way they do it that stinks. In fact, I'd condone someone writing an essay on this subject.
There's something very, very wrong with Team Ninja.
Are you sure they're not your own?josh4president said:Could be worse
They could be those rigid fake breasts that do not move no matter what you do to them
You know, the ones that seem to follow you around the room no matter where you go
You can create a digital representation of a child, check age 18 in its biography box or whatever, but it still looks like a child. Feel free to pretend otherwise to alleviate your post-masturbatory guilt, however.Mygaffer said:What children?
This, however, THIS I can respect.Xan Krieger said:Speaking as a 22 year old straight male whose never seen naked breasts in real life I thank Team Ninja for doing what they do.

This is how I feel about the series now.Deathlyphil said:I want to buy DoA 5 because I like the fighting style. But I know that the first reaction anyone who seems me playing it will be, "you bought this for the boobs, didn't you?".
Team Ninja, please stop doing this so I can buy your games again.
to be fair the mangaka of that series basically did say "yes we are making a perverted series for 15 year olds." Though the manga didn't have the bullet time part to it.DVS BSTrD said:Being such a crowded sea bound country, you can't blame the Japanese for wanting girls with huge... "tracts of land"

I just read about this.RJ Dalton said:Personally, I find the obsession with breasts as a sex symbol to be unsettling, immature and pointless. For starters, breasts are a motherly thing, so basically our whole culture is obsessed with fucking mothers. Very Freudian.
But more than that, why are breasts the only thing that is sexy? Why not try focusing on something that bespeaks of the individuality of the character, like, say, the face? Oh, right, because we don't really want individual characters here. We're just looking for a sex-object, ergo we focus on something that isn't capable of talking back.
...Now if only I knew where I saw that...DOA Girl 1: Ahh, my breasts! what are they doing?!
DOA Girl 2: THEY HAVE A MIND OF THEIR OWN!
*One of the girls Breasts tears off and flies into the air*
DOA Boob: I'm Free!
*DOA Boob continues into space*
Didn't stop Metroid other M from being an exercise in how NOT to to depict Samus. I'm still trying to figure out just who gets the lion's share of the blame for that mess.contla said:I'm surprised Team Ninja didn't put the sentient silicone in Samus during the other M.
Almost all of the problems with Other M can be traced directly back to Sakamoto.maximara said:Didn't stop Metroid other M from being an exercise in how NOT to to depict Samus. I'm still trying to figure out just who gets the lion's share of the blame for that mess.
That is either the single greatest or single worst thing I have ever seen...possibly both in some impossible but possible way.DVS BSTrD said:Being such a crowded sea bound country, you can't blame the Japanese for wanting girls with huge... "tracts of land"

As the Game Overthinker stated in "I heart Bayanetta" (episode 32) the head to body proportions of the "woman" in _Dead and Alive_ are for a lack of a better term "off" so you are already going into the Uncanny Valley. Throw in the breast physics and you are on the bullet train to Uncanny Valley Central.Andy of Comix Inc said:These are the kind of issues I'd like to see being dug much deeper into.
