Yeah...don't like it. And advertising him in that stupid border around the video player tactic made me not like it even more.
You're right! I totally didn't even notice but that advertisement actually made me hate him more. In fact, when I saw that border I immediately characterized him as a pretentious poser. And then I watched his video and was completely verified in my views. Does he honestly think he's cool? He sort of reminds me of Movie Bob, if Movie Bob didn't do any writing, wasn't funny, just stood in front of a microphone swearing, had absolutely no acting ability and wore a pair of unbearably pathetic sunglasses in an attempt to make him look cooler and edgy.

So not Movie Bob, just a trainwreck of a person with a webcam and a bad mic.
I'm getting a strong vibe that you disliked it.

I totally had that too. Why do Yahtzee's videos have this THING framing it? And why does it make me want to close the window and never return?

this subject was done quite throughly by extra credits and better than this guy, where he says "games arn't movies and shouldn't be treated as such", extra credits tells us that "up until recently, most writers were trying to come from film and as such, are only just figuring out now how to write truely non-liner storys".

from my own point of view, i have heard people compare game storys to comics as comics often dont follow a strictly linear story, but this is a different kind on non-linear, most games are not set in stone and you are able to gather information from different sources at different points along the way and every situation can be approached from many different angles, which is completely different to anything movies or comics can produce due to no user input.

if your going to make a series of idiotic, boring, just plain not funny, eye murdering, headache inducing videos, please dont do it on topics already done better by leagues of people and in particular, your first video should be trying to draw people in, not step on their heads.

...and @escapist, dont get it advertised with the frame around the videos, i usually look through the forum recently posted on the side of the page while im waiting for the stream to start.

I completely disagree as i have always seen video games as interactive shows(movies that YOU control) But as far as movies not being games...NO SHIT SHERLOCK!

His articles on destructioid, just like Anthony burch, are horribly compiled and have very little journalistic integrity. It is because of those two retards that i stopped reading the articles at destructoid. I really hope they dont drag this website to the pits of hell as well.

If the glasses are not Rx then Jim is definitely the gaming worlds biggest douchbagge and i hope this series gets the ax soooooon.

If it wasn't for Extra Credits I would never come here. The rest of the content is dominated by Trolls.

Oh and when I first saw ads for the show I thought the Jim in question was going to be Jim Cornette... Kinda looked similar.

From the large pool of "talent" on the internet... Hehe I can't say that with a straight face... Only kidding, some guys make some awesome videos.. But why this guy? Why? Really.. Why?

There are a ton of people who the escapist could find to fill a slot if they needed it. I'm just going to throw some names out there of people who do this kind of stuff a whole lot better...

2 Gryphon (Get over the fact that he is a fur, his lifestyle has nothing to do with his talent)
Jim Mathers (Guy has been successful for years and made some good points on video games and movies in a more entertaining way, just check out 4y Records)
Youtube Let's Player's.. (Really, some of them do make good videos)

Really, you find a woman slathered in makeup shoving her heaving bosom at viewers more appealing than a rotund man in a suit and tie? Pardon me while I die of shock.

A better idea; what if they exchanged scripts, think his work will be any less or any more appealing when delivered by a woman using sex appeal to sell herself to viewers?

Yeah....
" woman slathered in makeup shoving her heaving bosom at viewers"

Really, you say that like it is a bad thing. So what if she owns her hotness. It is hot, and her show if fun.

1. You're taking what I said out of context.
2. You are presuming I've suggested or implied something I did not.
3. Shoving boobs at people for views takes neither talent nor wit, and barely any effort at all.

There are intrinsic differences between owning one's sexuality, and pimping it out to bait males. I feel somewhat compelled to recycle Rebecca Mayes as my example yet again.

Rebecca Mayes was boring. I am glad you liked her, I did not.

Christ, some of you won't even give Jim a second chance. Maybe Jim should have had blond hair, a short skirt and a top 5 list to gain your instant approval.

(not hating on Lisa Foiles, just trying to make a point)
Lisa Foiles can be amusing, at times. If she wasn't, I wouldn't watch. Also, Top 5 lists will always hold interest for people to hope that their favourites make the list, or to find out about something they didn't know before. Lisa Foiles is not the best thing on the Escapist, is not a draw for me, but she has her moments. Jimquisition was boring straight through, offered me no new perspective or information, and features a far less endearing host with no comedic sense or timing.

And before you can continue implying that I would watch something just for female content, I HATED "I Hit It With My Axe" and wrote on a couple occasions that it did not belong on The Escapist. And it had strippers and porn stars.

You mean he had a Script for this? Because it honestly didn't sound like it.

No idea, but it would be especially dumb to make a video of this nature without some forethought, planning, and writing. Some of it seemed pretty badly improvised though. My point was more that people would be less harsh about their criticism if he was like Lisa Foiles because he'd have the sex appeal crutch to rest on as well.

This is incorrect. Lisa Foiles has redeeming qualities, this guy does not. As I mentioned a few posts above, I was very harsh in my criticism against "I Hit It With My Axe" because it was boring, uninteresting, poor presentation, had no real redeeming qualities, and sold itself entirely based on the fact that it featured strippers and porn stars. Your point is invalid.

EDIT: I'm also not entirely convinced that I find Lisa Foiles particularly attractive in a physical sense, but her personality is endearing. I don't laugh at all her jokes, but the character she gives herself is likable. I watched a couple videos of Rebecca Mayes and never went back. So again, this further proves that your point is invalid.

My point is invalid because you say so and have chosen to ignore my previous posts? Cute.

I know better than to battle white knights, and god forbid I say anything remotely disparaging against the popular girl, though hilariously, people seem to get defensive about it rather quickly, when I've said nothing about her remotely negative. So no matter how flattering my statements are about Lisa, you people will act like rabid dogs about defending her against something that needs no defense against.

Ah well, if you don't find her sexy, that's none of my concern, bub. To each their own.

I'm not defending her. I've actually expressed that I'm fairly middling on Lisa. You said that people will defend the girls that have sex appeal, and I said that THAT point is invalid because I Hit It With My Axe fell under some harsh criticisms when it ran on The Escapist. The point I'm attacking is that you said, and I quote, "My point was more that people would be less harsh about their criticism if he was like Lisa Foiles because he'd have the sex appeal crutch to rest on as well." And it's THAT point that is invalid, because it has been PROVEN that the sex appeal crutch in and of itself is not enough to redeem a poor series like "I Hit It With My Axe."

Well said sir. I too liked Lisa Foiles but not IHIWMA. I wouldn't go out of my way to come to the Escapist for Lisa, but if I was here and she had a new video then I would most certainly watch it.

This is not his first, second or third chance. He's the Reviews Editor at Destructoid. In fact he's been doing this for some time and he doesn't want to change, because his videos sure haven't. And here's how much he doesn't want to change up is format/delivery: His Jimquisition picture is the same damn picture he uses at Destructoid [a href="http://www.destructoid.com/elephant/index.phtml?a=8423"]for posting[/a], the only difference is that he ran the picture for the Escapist through a Photoshop filter. Oooooooh, Impressive. Basically he wants to do the exact same crap here that he does at Destructoid.

Like I said on my previous comment: He rants like a child in a way that a child only uses facts (twisted facts sometimes) to prove his point but will not touch conflicting facts at all because the child is not mature enough to handle things apposed to his point. And just like a child, he tries to see what he can get away with trying to throw in shock & awe (see the video already posted here where he lets you watch a man blow his brains out without warning) to try and be edgy in a 'effort' to prove his point, but, in fact, has little to do with his point.

As far as his accent goes, I hate it. It feels forced and fake with zero colloquialisms and mannerisms and with lacking a similar fluctuation/[a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJyTA4VlZus&feature=related"]melody[/a] of speech like the many people I've met and worked with from the UK. Instead it sounds like an American forcing a bad British accent.

Destructoid can keep this drivel. I'd rather have something thought provoking, informative, funny or cute/hot... but not this, anything but this. Here's how much I don't want this, Escapist: Once you get rid of this and bring back Lisa, if you still need something to put up then bring back Rebecca Mayes.

Videogames are just that. Games in a form of a video. Videos need to look pretty, sound pretty, and immerse the viewer via the story or whatnot. Games need to be simple/easily understood to execute commands, have an interesting concept, and most importantly fun. Videogames are games first and videos second.
