Joss Whedon Officially Directing The Avengers

This thread is really starting to irritate the hell out of me. The only reason HALF of you are saying that this is bad is because Zero Punctuation constantly rags on him. Seriously, he has brought some brilliant material into the area of sci fi/fantasy. Buffy the Vampire Slayer took the usual trope of the cute girl being always killed by the monsters, and flipped it on its head. Firefly was a well directed show and earned a cult classic for a reason. And it's not like he's M. Night Shyamalan (in before ALIEN: RESURRECTION, which wasn't really that bad) pissing away success with terrible movies. Dollhouse wasn't bad, and his other projects were at least decent. But yes, I really hope J.J. Abrams stays away from this. I'm hoping that this movie works out well (very disappointed they get rid of Edward Norton as The Hulk) but I'm not holding my breath.

Um... Yes? I mean it sold well, but Nintendo sold out it's hard core fans and it took 3 years for them to fix the hardware issues. (Of course this years E3 they did fix many, if not all of those mistakes. So they failed when it first came out, but they have so far have won most of us back.)

What I mean is that did it become the best-selling console here and have alot of shovelware? Also, what happened with the Dreamcast here, as this is clearly a world where things went differently.

Being the best selling doesn't mean it's good, look at Twilight and the new Transformers films. Also having alot of shovelware on a console is a bad thing, at least were I'm from.

Well hell, I'm excited, Firefly was my favourite show ever, and the only other movie he's done so far was serenity, which was awesome; Doctor horrible is the greatest musical ever; his stint writing X-man, particularly the Unstoppable arc, was epic, so I know he can handle comic stuff well.

Well, you aren't new, so how haven't you heard of TvTropes? Also, my point was is that from what I remember, the Escapist have alot less hate.

I live in Canada, so if it's a Tv network I don't get it. I'm not really hating, just don't like his work, which is leading me to belive the movie will be bad is all. I'll probably still see it if t gets decent enough reviews.

okay, the 09 Trek movie was an enjoyable action movie- it was slick and stylish, but not very smart, which is the essence of Trek. That's partial to blame on the scriptwriters, but J.J Abrahms unfortunately loves to take credit for everything, even when it's crap. So that's why I don't like him.
On a positive note, go Joss! Nice to see someone whose brought so many "out-there" things to the screen, finally get some mainstream success.

Oh right. Back when it stole ideas from far better short stories and authors. Then it became pompous and self righteous. Then it became complete and utter unadulterated shit.

Then Enterprise came out. And then I found out that Voyager wasn't actually QUITE as bad when compared to Enterprise.

The Escapist is actually VERY annoying, there a good reason why we don't have a tv trope page:

1.Don't mention that you think PC gaming is dying, or that consoles could be in any way better than PC's.
2.Don't talk about March Madness. Don't ask what March Madness is. Don't even ask who won. Don't say that anyone cheated.
3.Say a Meme, and you will be dealt with with extreme force.
◦Yeah, the people on The Escapist really aren't that bad compared to most forums, but doing any of these things WILL ignite a flame war:
1.Saying you believe in God.
2.Bringing up piracy. Doesn't matter what your view is.
3.Mentioning you like the Wii.
◦Actually, the Escapist members DO get really upset about a couple of things:
1.Mention ANYTHING about Halo, and people will flame the crap out of you, or give "oh, a Halo thread, how original" responses.
2.Say anything bad about the Half-Life series and you might as well exile yourself.
3.And recently, Twilight threads, for some reason....
