Journey to Un'Goro Pack Distribution is Working as Intended, Says Blizzard

//cdn.themis-media.com/media/global/images/library/deriv/1389/1389703.jpg
Blizzard has addressed complaints that Journey to Un'Goro packs are distributing an abnormally high number of duplicate cards.

Did you feel like you got too many duplicate cards in your Journey to Un'Goro [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/169956-All-The-Journey-to-UnGoro-Cards-in-One-Place] packs? Well, it turns out that you were just unlucky, as Blizzard has dsimissed concerns that packs are distributing an abnormally high number of duplicate cards.

"We have seen a number of posts from our community today regarding Journey to Un'Goro packs and the possibility that they might be distributing an abnormally high amount of duplicate cards," wrote community manager Daxxarri in a forum post [https://us.battle.net/forums/en/hearthstone/topic/20753717903].

"We want to assure everyone that we have looked into this concern and have found that Journey to Un'Goro card distribution is working properly, both at a per card and per rarity basis, and is consistent with previous Hearthstone releases."

As always, this looks to be a case of the "vocal minority" skewing the statistics, and confirmation bias, as only people who got a lot of duplicate cards would take to the forums to complain about it.

So sorry, to those of you who got multiple copies of Ozruk, Blizzard isn't out to get you, you're just not having a very lucky day!

Of course it's working as intended. They intend to make a lot of money. Therefore, the more they sell, the more money they make. It's as simple as that.

This is just a huge load of bullshite.

I was, initially, very supportive of this game, and I bought pre-release packs simply to do my part in keeping with the continued growth of Hearthstone.

But then I started noticing something: During the first week or so after a new set is released, duplicates are so high that it's insulting to watch them keep dismissing the issue. I will never forget, for instance, when Goblins vs Gnomes was first released, in which I got 40 packs: I shit you not, I ended up with almost 60 Antique Healbots. A bunch were golden, which did end up giving me enough dust to help salvage the situation a bit, but I'm sorry, that's just a purposeful or sloppy algorithm in-place. And I know for a fact that I am not the only person with that sort of scenario happening on a regular basis.

I have never had anything quite that bad again, but I officially decided to stop supporting Hearthstone monetarily, after Mean Streets came out, and I ended up with more Friendly Bartenders than I could ever care for. It's simply not worth spending so much money, to get a bunch of duplicate commons, which give out shit for dust.

All I know is that Ive opened 30 packs without a single legendary card. For an expansion revolving around the quests thats tragic.

All of the quests are legendary...

I've opened about 15 packs so far and got the same rare, Tol'vir Warden, as the only non-common in 5 of them. The fact most the best cards in this expansion are legendary or epic is pretty bullshit in itself but constantly getting the same rares as well actually makes it impossible to participate.

Shame really as it looks like a good expansion and I was considering dropping some cash but there's just no point with so little chance of getting enough important cards to make a difference. For the same price as enough packs to, on average, get 2 legendaries I could buy 2 recent AAA released for PC. Gotta wonder how long people will stick around with so much of the game kept behind such a ridiculously large paywall.

"Working as intended" has been the unofficial Blizzard catchphrase for over a decade now.

But I'm more inclined to believe Blizzard than a few forum posters that have an image of receiving a few packs with doubles burned into their brains by rage.

There's currently exploit that allows you to cancel your opponent turns... again.
Pretty much you attack then cycle through a spell puller with 0 cost that ques up a ton of animations until the rope is almost out. Click pass. Your oponent never gets to do anything. You attack with your minions and run animation stack and so on.
Do NOT spend ANY money on this game if you value quality.

Funny how anecdotal evidence paints a person's experience: I've opened two different legendaries in 37 packs, and a fairly varied selection of rares and the occasional epic, so it's about the same rate as I've ever had. Though I will say perhaps the quests should have a higher chance of being opened, since everyone except me has them already anyway.
