Now I've been following Jurassic Park since I was a kid I remember seeing JP2 in the cinema with my parents and I shared in the dismay at Jurassic park 3. I thought it was a good film but short and something just didn't really fit.
Now I've been reading up rumours on JP4 since 2007 there's a website devoted to it's release last year. Apparently John Hammond passes away and InGen start using the dinosaurs as Bio-weapons (a slightly different angle than before and one I kind of liked). And then I read at the end of last year due to an important person in the JP team (I forget who) dying JP4 wouldn't happen, and I was heartbroken.
Then I read this.
Joe Johnston confirms that there will be a JP4 and that it will "break away" from the last 3
it's essentially the beginning of the second Jurassic Park trilogy.
Now this to me is semi-exciting JP4 YES. But Johnston directed my least favourite JP film...Obviously this is going for the series revamp that Terminator Salvation and Batman Begins did, but will it be successful?

I damn well hope so!

But you have to admit, the T-rex/Spinosaurus deathmatch was incredible!

Maybe that company from the first one finally stole some dino dna and made their own park.

It wasn't that great. The T-Rex lost. After all the screen time the T-Rex had in the first two films, I kind of got attached to him. He just comes with Jurassic Park, it's what you do. Now he just dies to some random weirdo dinosaur that anyone who isn't a paleontologist hasn't heard of.

Pretty lame if you ask me.

The deathmatch was pretty sweet yeah.
But i don't think it's going to be anything to do with a park remember he said it's going to break away from the previous 3!

Well I AM somewhat of a paleontologist. More like Cretaceous park if you ask me fnar, fnar.

It would have been better at the end. Instead of running away from 1 monster you have 2 coming after you. Not counting Velociraptors.

If I was Hammond, I would have just made HERBIVOUROUS dinosaurs.

I'm trying to stay positive these days, so I'll just say that I'm glad you guys are excited for this movie. Good for you.

It wasn't someone on the JP team. If I recall, it was Michael Crichton (the guy who wrote the original books that spawned the movie franchise).

OT: I've been following it for a while too. Movie 3 disappointed me as the first will always hold the title (imo) of BEST MOVIE EVER MADE. But if a new angle can make #4 stand out with better plot, that's great. I just hope we can go back to the original design of the dinosaurs so they don't all look like they fell into a vat of paint or something.

I certainly hope that it breaks away from JP 3 because that movie was arguably the most rediculous piece of @#$%@ yet unleashed upon the cinema.

it was so full of rediculous bullshit you would almost think they meant to parody the great and atmospheric magnificense of JP 1.

a huge dinosaur that can break through 3 feet Steel tube fenses but can't batter down a straw hut if you bar the door?
A telephone surviving a dinosaurs stomach?
Communicating with prehistoric animals by randomly blowing on a cast of the skull it having it make sense?

kill it, KILL IT WITH FIRE

Unfortunately the reason 3 sucked was most likely because it was the only one that wasn't based around the 2 novels. Lets hope this was only a coincidence however and that 4 turns out good.

Ah, but still someone important to JP.
And I agree if JP4 comes out it has to be great!
With the colourful dino's i think they'll update them to how scietist think they look from current evidence. (To be honest as long as they leave out feathers I can handle most everything else!)

Oh dear god NO!

I'm sorry, but while the first film was fantastic, the 2nd and 3rd really weren't and the idea of doing more films so the company can milk more money out of the franchise thanks to peoples nostalgia is really cynical and pathetic.

You didn't like 3? I hated 2, I found it boring and mostly preachy. There wasn't really that much fear in that one for me. There were a few scenes in it that were cool, and it's still a good movie in it's own right I suppose, but it's my least favorite in the trilogy.

My one problem with the Spinosaurus in 3 was that it had no "weaknesses." The thing with the T-rex and not being able to see was awsome. It gave that little extra edge of fear when it gets right up in your face and you're trying to avoid moving. That was great, but I still did love the Spino and the phone bit.

That was part of the thing with the first movie, they had that power, they went in over thier heads with it, and then that power was out. They got carried away and made all this stuff "without wondering if they should." Afterwards it didn't seem like that big of a deal and they never dreamed it could end up so bad as it did in the first one.

But wasn't JP3 just a splicing together of unused plot lines the books Jurassic Park and Lost World?

I didn't think it was that bad, it just wasn't a remember-able movie. It still entertains me to watch.

We need a film about dinosaurs kicking arse and eating people.

But I posted on JP 4 a while back (here [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.166332-Poll-Where-the-hell-is-Jurassic-Park-4]) and opinion was against me. I have to admit the people in that thread had some good points, JP3 wasn't all that good.

Originally it was put on hold because Michael Chrichton died and they didn't feel like messing with it. (Which is sort of a weird reason considering how different the movie and the novel are.)
Admittedly this is rumor and speculation, but the original script for the 4th was said to have dinosaurs wielding guns.
If that was true, I can't think of a better way of pissing on a mans grave then to release that.

Then again, the more I think about it, I would totally go see that movie with a comedy mindset.

OMG OMG OMG.

Best news ever.

I was taken into a movie theatre when I was a little kid, like 3-4, as the family wanted to see JP (second-worst nightmares I've ever had haha). I've loved the franchise ever since, the movies are just fantastic - based on premise and sheer difference to the other films that get theatrical releases.

Plus who doesn't love giant dinosaurs eating people and each other?

One moment, I need to change my pants....

...Back again. I've avoided JP3 just because I never felt the need to continue after JP2, which I thought gave a good ending to the franchise, but if a new iteration is coming out than I'm effectivly guilted into watching it. Of course it's never on TV (I wonder why that is...) so it'll probably be a while before I do.
