Just experienced an attempted mugging

I tried informing them and they said quote:"we will monitor that area" but in England, it's about as useful as someone giving you some warm tea & toast after you've lost an arm.

Aside, from that, I'm trying to avoid that area, and I'm trying to get on with life as if it didn't happen

last time i got attempted mugged i was underage, drunk, they had 5 or 6 guys with nice shiney guns and i had a drunk on and annoyed.

being underage, drunk and the fact they got nothing off me, and the added fact i could not give an accurate description of anything but the general color and shape of the car they were cruising in, and the added fact that cops are useless for most things period and for general muggings, and minor thefts, most could not give two spits and wont spend any more time on it than to file a report that they will curse you for making them do, decided it was best never to mention it.

if you have a good description etc tho i suppose it cant hurt to file a report and if they do anything with it spiffy if not you just wasted a hour or few of your life going to do it.

On topic, there's not much you can do, mate. I got held-up by a couple punks in the nearby city once, but I didn't have my wallet on me so they satisfied themselves by swearing at me and leaving. (Leaving me in a puddle of my own shit, that is)

And to all the people saying he should have kicked his ass: That's a stupid fucking idea. Its an excellent way to get stabbed, shot, or get the merciful shit kicked out of you. Don't do it.

If you want, report it to the cops. And that's it. Try to avoid that area of town if you can, and if you have to go through make it a point to go through in the daytime, or with a group of friends.

Sucks matey, really does. Just get on with your life though... the police wont do anything and going around trying to get revenge would more than likely end with you dead, seriously injured or arrested (ironic the law is). Just have some warm tea and toast... Get in the bath and forget about it... Stuff like this don't happen that often.

Has happened to me once before... I did fight back but there was only two of them and I was lucky. I'd just got back from training, we were sparring that night so my head was into it... I was still a little pumped from it all. I wasn't thinking too straight because of this and I instead just attacked. When you've been fighting trained monsters for the last 3 hours you don't tend to flinch too much to two little idiots with a knife. I won and got away, I was lucky though and I don't recommend trying... I mean in hindsight it was a stupid thing to do and I could have got stabbed.

The best thing to do in that situation is either give your stuff up or leg it... Run fast. Now if it's just one lone man on him self then fair enough... Grab the back of his head then quickly pull it towards you with throwing an elbow with the other hand. Done right you'll probably break his nose and stun him... Then get him in a clinch and try and land a few knees to the solar plexus... This will wind him and it'll give you plenty of time to escape... Though if he's still standing and your not sure... Throw a push kick to take him to the ground, also it would be a good idea (in this weakened state) to try and take the knife he had off of him if he hasn't dropped it already, then discard it some where safe or hand it to the police. Though just be careful... All it takes is one hit with that knife and your gone... So either try to stun him and run or just give the guy what he wants and he'll probably leave. Now if you do take the second option, while you hand over your stuff, try to get a good look at his face and try to find defining feature. This could be used later when contacting the police... He may have a criminal record and they'll be able to match that description with a face on their database.

Though in this situation you left relatively unharmed and just shaked... So smile... your alive and well with a story to tell your friends.
